Hello world of TM3!

From Calgary here, thought I'd join your forums! A Canadian Mazda3 forum is as local as I can get.

Recently re-newed my membership with Mazda from an '05 mazda3 gt to a 2012 skyactiv during these world junior games. Figure getting a new 3 would be a good way to start the year.

Added some LED strips to act like fog lights, and found an ooold picture of my '05 before I started modding it. Can't wait to get HIDs to the Sky and get started on other stuff.

I hope I'm posting these pictures right this time... Finally got tinted. 20% back, 35% front. Keeping tradition with myself, kept an autobot logo on. Pending on the decision to plasti-dip all emblems, or paint to body color. And got 8000k HIDs on which I feel looks pretty with the LED strips for fogs IMO. Might consider painting the front bumper/grill body color, ionno. Lookin' around for some summer rims now. Will smoke the tail and headlights down the road as well.

Hello again.

I was wondering if I could have everyone's opinion about painting the bumper/grill body colour? Specifically on the 2012 bumpers.

I took pictures about 2-3 weeks ago when I collected mud/slush all over the front of my car and blended the bumper/grill and the hood together to kind of have a better visual of how it could possibly look with matching paint. I've been thinking about getting it done in the summer when I was considering to purchase the 3. I'm not really a fan of the smile.

Also.... We've had a very dry winter here in Alberta. Quite a number of people are throwing back on their summer rims early. I decided to follow suit. We only had like 3 heavy snow falls all winter so far that don't last very long before another warm chinook rolls in. Talk about balding out the winter tires.

Anyways, rims are on, set of 4 18inch. May get a drop when summer actually comes around.

I strongly agree with it looking weird without a drop. Can't wait to get it done.

I actually just tried something a bit different that I'm not sure yet if it will be temporary until I choose to paint, or make it a permanent decision. I found some left over chrome trim from my first gen mazda3 and kind of went with the same idea for the grill. I don't know about everyone else, but i now have to focus to notice the smile instead of the smile being all I see :\. But that's just me.

if you are wanting to paint the grill where you added the silver trim body color id say do it. take a look at my pics i have the same color and have painted my grill body color as well. just to see if youd like it.

Welcome to TM3! Nice to have another member representing the west side. I'm not a fan of chrome, but you're absolutely right. The chrome "braces" definitely take the visual emphasis off of the Gen. 2 smile. Looking good.

It's been months since I've last logged on...

Update* Since my last log-in... been busy with house renos. I had thrown my stock rims back on for a loooong road trip to salt lake, vegas, l.a., san fran, portland, seattle, vancouver, kelowna and back. Awesome fuel efficiency. Stock rims have been painted matte black for next winter.

Tail lights are tinted red(I usually see pictures of these on white and red 3s), fading to black. Used red and black nite shades.

Booter22 - took your advice, I painted the grille/bumper to body color. I like the cleaner look.Also painted front emblem body color. I have also painted rear "mazda3" and "skyactiv" badges body color. still debating on doing the same to the rear emblem or not. meanwhile, had added black inside the "m". - initially wanted to debadge everything, but i dunno yet.

Future esthetic plans - plasti-dip roof and all interior silver trims.

Win - Shell car wash on 32nd n.e.
Pivot - I know, the tuning scene for 3s is so rare here.

Now lets see if i remember how to post pics....
