Hi guys,

So here is the situation, I picked up a Sony DSX S200 deck a couple days back from future shop and had the installation today. So the installation is done and I go in the car to see that the clock and weather display is completely gone. At this point I was completely shocked as to why it was gone, because I had seen other mazda 3 with after market decks with the display still intact and working.
So I go back to the installation centre and talk about my concern and the guy says oohh yea there's a different kit that you need to buy and we dont carry it, Peel Audio Video does. So I head on to Peel Audio and they say that they dont have such a thing and dont carry it, and the guy says you dont need another kit, all you need to do is manually hardwire it.
So being really frustrated at this point, I call back future shop and ask them why is it that they didnt tell me the display was going to be gone. The guy on the phone was surprised that this info was disclosed to me and tells me that there's nothing that they can do. He goes on to say that "I should have known" that this was going to happen and that "I should have asked him". My question is how am I supposed to ask about something I have no idea about or knowledge about. How is the average person supposed to automatically know something like?
I guess in part it was my fault for not doing the research, but still don't you guys think that they should have told me that the display is going to get removed, or at least say that its going to cost more to keep the display, cause right now I think it looks so empty and plain without the deck.
So Im asking for suggestions and ideas as how to deal with the situations, or is there anyone on here thats dealt with the same issue? Or does anyone know how to manually hardwire in the display?

And btw I apologize for the long read in advance.

It's not the long read that turns me off, it's the lack of paragraphs.
But yes, I don't think you should have to know that. If you knew that, you might have been technologically capable to install it yourself. There's a reason we pay for it to be done.
Head over to Audio Heaven, chances are, they'll be able to help.

Sorry about that, I realized after I posted.
My concern is now I have to dish in extra money that I wasnt told was required before. Both best buy and peel audio video said they can do it for 60-80 bucks, but I just think that because of the fact that I wasnt informed, shouldnt they provide me with a compensation of some sort? Or am I asking for too much :P

I'm pretty sure you need a CAN-BUS hook up. What year is your car and is your deck single DIN or double?

you have a 06 down you will loose it its in the harness which get the power from the head unit

the 07+ have a different plug as long as you dont unplug the battery it will always be there i have the weather and gas left

what mazdaskit said is correct, however if you have an 06 I believe you can likely get an adapter that I previously mentioned whereas with the 04s and 05s the LCD display is wired differently into the head unit causing you to forever lose those functions.

in the future, go to a sponsor so you can hold them liable in terms of respectability. plus, they tend to be much better as they are used to doing these things.

future shit or some other place really wont care about ur problems. gl with the fix.

So after doing a lot of research and looking around I found the kit that lets me keep my factory display. But the only thing it displays is the weather :/ but its still better than nothing.

But yea for future references I have to go through the sponsors that way I dont get into the same mess.

You have a 2006 so you can keep your LCD screen.

If you want it to display the time or the fuel on left side of screen all you have to do is plug the factory deck in and the LCD screen set when you want it at(clock or fuel) then in plug only the deck and plug the new deck in ( do not unplug the LCD screen)

Doing the will let you keep a function on the left side

So plug back in the factory deck, hit the clock and then unplug and put the after market back in?

Yes... But make sure you do not unplug the LCD screen.

Also if you keep it on clock you will have to plug the factory deck in every time you need to change the time.

Also every time disconnect the battery you will have to plug the factory deck in to get it back

No for me its not a big thing. I just wanted the display to be there. But if I wanted to keep it, I will just have to what ARIS posted.

Out of curiosity would you be able to list the deck model that you used? I've been looking at an App Radio from Pioneer to replace my OEM HU and would want to keep everything as well.
