I realize there aren't many 2012 SkyActiv owners yet but does anyone know which Amsoil oil filter fits? The Amsoil website doesn't say so I took a guess getting the one for 2011. Took my car in for an early oil change and my mechanic said it didn't fit.
Called Amsoil and they couldn't help either saying they haven't gotten the specifications from Mazda yet. I would guess there must be a current one that fits. As long as it fits, it shouldn't make any difference right?

just because it fits doesn't mean it works right!
different oil filters have different flow specs and pressure specs... this is all specified by the engine maker and if you put the filter that doesn't meet those specs, then you can ruin an engine
stick to the mazda filter for now as that's probably the only thing available until the aftermarket catches up later.... the mazda filter is good quality and the amsoil is over hyped

Well I took at K&N and Fram and they both use the same part for 2011 & 2012 so I can't imagine Amsoil would be different.

there wasn't a skyactiv engine in 2011... but there was the MZR engine then and there is one now
those filters are for the MZR engines, NOT the skyactiv, which uses a completely different filter

Use the mazda filter untill k&n comes out with one.
Amsoil is pure hype like THEman said.
