Hello, i recently purchased a Mazda3 after having my Acura EL written off and ive decided half of the stereo is going, i don't need the super bass anymore and i know whatever i do put it wont kick quite the same and i'm fine with that. I was running...

220 AMP Alternator
1800w Kinetic powercell
Full dynomat
Clarion 1550w Monoblock
2x Rockford Fosgate T1's custom ported box (Way too big...)
Kenwood Excelon 4RS(I think?)
4x Focal Access Component 6.5"s

With the new car i still need some bass and im wondering what other hatchback owners are running and how they feel about the output?

I intend on keeping all the speaker components and picking up a 10" JL or ideally a stealthbox 8" but im just worried it wont really thump..

Anyway, thanks for any input,

Travis

Big subs need alot of space to pound just an FYI.
A JL W6 should be fine for yourself, but do understand that a regular sized box should have 1cubic foot of space to provide a decent amount of bass.
Secondly dynamting the whole car is pointless if your not going to have panel flexing subwoofers just an fyi, but if you really want to do this i can help. ive done it before just PM me and we will talk.

I would say a JL or Rockford Fosgate 10" around 300W RMS and match the amp exactly or 50 RMS more if you want bump but not too much. I have a 500W RMS in my sedan and it bumps too hard sometimes. I imagine it'd be even louder in an open hatchback.

I run an old 15" sub in a spec vented enclosure with a POS amp. Still on stock cabin speakers. No sound deadening. Ugly bass but does a decent enough job.

I'm actually going to rebuild the enclosure and get a better amp this spring.

my suggestions (which is pretty much how my revamp will be)
- use 1 of the subs in either a band pass or vented enclosure (Depending on the type of bass you like) and feed it with your monoblock
- Dynomat the door panels, hatch, and roof (wouldn't bother with pillars quarter panels, etc)
- grab components sets for the doors and feed those with a nice 4-channel
- Re-do the Big 3 grounding points
- DEFINITELY upgrade the head unit for better sound clarity and EQ adjustability.

This is basically what I will be doing come spring (except using my current 15" instead of the T1)
