205/60/R15 Snow Tires on 2007 Mazda 3 Sport HB 2.3L

I've got a set of 205/60/R15 x-ice snow tires with 90% tread left which I want to use on my M3. I've read that with the 2.3L you can't go smaller than 16". Is this true?
