Hey guys! Need some inputs i just bought a cx7 last Dec11 and its only two months i notice my driver side headlights has some moisture on it. Does the power train warranty covers it, btw i did put some hid on it and i think that did not cost the moisture. Thanks

Mazda considers condensation "normal" and will not replace the lighting...it happens when it's cold out/rainy weather....let your dealership see it just to make sure...there is a service bulletion out on condensation, ask for it

This would be covered by bumper/bumper (if you still are under that) but no, not power train. If you bought it used from a dealership you might be able to get them to fix it since there would have been no way for you to tell that they had this problem. Otherwise, you'll have to fix them yourself =/ (and dont worry, it is very fixable)

there is a service bulletin for condensation? not one that is all that helpful for repair in any means that i have seen, there is however information from mazda regarding condensation which states.

"Some customers may complain of condensation/fog inside the front or rear combination lights. The recent new models have been fitted with a clear lens which can cause the symptom to be more noticeable, however, it does not affect the performance of the light. This condensation/fog is a natural phenomenon that occurs when there is a fairly large temperature difference between the inside and the outside of the light housing. It is normal for very small water drops to appear in certain locations on the light units where the air is stagnant (condensation), making the lens look whitish (fog). This happens mostly in the corners and narrow spaces, and will typically clear during warmer ambient temperatures, or when the lights have been on for some time."

now of course it does not hurt to have it inspected by any means in case it does not fall into the above description. the information mazda provides about condensation also lists and details down about light / heavy condensation with imagaes to compare.

Thanks guys for the reply really appreciate it. Bought the car brand new heres the thing would the bumper/bumper covers the headlight even though i put hid on it? The dealer might say that the cause of the condensation due to aftermarket hid that is being installed?

That's exactly what they will say. You will have to reinstall the OEM bulbs and then take it in. Don't even mention to them that you have the HIDs. If you do you will take the chance of them not even looking at your car and possibly not covering the headlight at all.

yes and no, bumper to bumper doesnt actually mean bumper to bumper as there is no such thing, brakes and wear items are not covered just to point that out, but with that aside, it does depend on which dealer you go to. IE those that dont care, or those that know better. in our case we try to know better :P just as food for thought. my girlfriends car and mine have hids installed in the headlights and fogs, her headlights for some reason built up condensation on the outside of the projector lens and would freeze over the inside of the light. now unless there is a problem with the hids which im sure whould blow the fuse before hand, i could see how a factory bulb being 51W and an HID system being 35W would do more harm at with less Watts, or some how cause the headlight seals to melt with out melting the light or plastic around the bulb first.

so yes depending where you take it. they could tell you it was the HIDS, you could put the stock bulbs back in if you are going to a dealer that you may not want to question you, if your near by oakville let me know and we can have a look at this with you and go from there.

do you have any pictures you can post of the condensation as well?

You need to host your pictures on an external site like photobucket or imageshack, etc.
