I picked up a ScangaugeII this weekend for my M3 Sky to get fuel economy numbers (why this is missing from Skyactiv cars in Canada is baffling) and the unit doesn't shut off. I turn off the ignition, remove the key and the RPM levels on the SGII stay at my last idle RPM (600 or so) and never drop to zero. I tried changing the "sleep mode" to Volt and Com from RPM 0 but the unit still stays on. I left it overnight thinking it would "time out" but when I got into the car this morning the unit was still calculating L/100KM from the day before giving some bizarre readings...
Anyone with a M3 Sky have a ScangaugeII that can confirm this as a Sky issue? I already returned the unit once and got a new one with the same issue. Contacted Scangauge directly and they are stumped... before returning it I wanted to ask around if anyone else has one and duplicate the issue?
Thanks

Hi Xtropy.
I have a scangaugeII for my Suburban that I'll try in my Sky and get back to you.

Ok I have results...It might be a Skyactiv thing. I tried it in mine, started the car then shut it off... it sticks with whatever the last RPM was before it shut off. I waited 5 or so min and the screen never shut off. However, if you cycle the key so the rpms show 0, it will then shut off after a couple seconds. Not ideal to cycle the key again before getting out but that's the only way I can think of getting the RPMs to show 0 telling the unit to shut off.
Regarding the missing MID, I think it's cause in Canada we got the heated seats and the States got the MID, no heated seats...why we can't have both I don't know...must be cost cutting measures...I've been looking into installing the U.S. MID but then I'd have to change the steering wheel as well to control it...all in all I guess a Scangauge is a cheaper option. Hope this helps.

Really appreciate you checking into this M3_SKY. I have been working with the manufacturer directly and they say they are going to send me a custom replacement unit to fix these issues. It's nice to see that someone else (with the same vehicle) can confirm the issue so I know it's not a bad OBD2 port on my car or something.
Thanks again for the confirmation! I might look into the US MID as well if the Scangauge doesn't end up working out...
