Hi All,

I have a question about the 2012 models brakes - does the GS- Sport get the brakes from the GT or the GX or does it have it's own brakes? Does anyone know?

If so what would be the right winter tire size as a result?

Thanks,
Ismail

Jeff can correct me, but I believe as it is a 2.0L engine its got the same smaller brakes as the earlier GS models. I think that means you could put 15" wheels on there if you wanted to.

GS sport have 2.5 = get the bigger brakes.
All the 2.0's including GS sedan get smaller brakes.

There's only two sizes not counting the speed.

Except we're talking about the GS-Sky hatch. Going forward both hatch and sedan will have 2.0L engines, not like before.

I put the 15" wheels from my 08 M3 2.0L sedan on my new 2012 MAZDA3 GS Sport Sky. They are a tight fit but they do work. I'd suggest going up to a 16" if you're buying new but if you already have the 15's then you're good to go.

i have talked to andrew our parts manager and he said the 2.0L 2.0L sky have the same brakes and the 2.5L gs sport or gt have larger brakes.

Thanks Everyone for all your help - answered my question promptly! If I decide I go for it, wanted to see what the brakes would be like.

I have had both a GX and a GT - and was hoping the GS got the GTs brakes. But it's a double edged sword - this way if I decide to go for this my running costs would be lower, winter tires and rims.

Upgrading from 2.0L to 2.3L brakes is cheap nowadays. Check out the FS section where I have mine on sell for $50. Of course you will need bigger rotors as well.
