Just got new speakers! What do you think?

nice i just got my set up installed after about a year of waiting i got 2 JL w3 12" subs 4 JL C5-650x door speakers front and rear and its all running off a fosgate amp pounds i just need to buy a 4 channel amp for the speakers:)

yea man it pounds lol ive set off 2 alarms already lol i for sure need a 4 channel amp to loose some of the bass lol i really dont want to change the head unit lol i sorta like the way 2010 dash is set up cuz then i loose that bar with the time and info dont i?

From what i've heard yes you do lose it. But i have the 2004 and i dont even have the aux input so i have no choice but to buy a head unit:complain

Just out of curiosity, why didn't you get the 6x8 thats what you have existing in the doors?

it was between the mtx 6x8's or the alpine 5x7's and i thought the alpines sounded better

Those alpines only come in 5x7

Also FYI 6x8 and 5x7 are the same size

somebody else told me this and it still doesn't make sense to me.

I mean, it's a measurement. 5" x 7" oval, 6"x 8" oval....it can't be the same thing.

I can only see it "working" if you have an adapter to match mounting points.

Their the same.

Our cars have 6x8 speakers from factory and I bought 5x7 and their the same... I compared the factory ones and my new ones and theirs no difference. No adaptors needed

I checked. To be more precise the speaker size is different but the mounting holes correspond.

The 5x7 speakers have mounting tabs that fit in normally where a 6x8 speaker sits. The mounting tabs extend the size to fit 6x8.
