Locked my 2011 GS onthe way into the grocery store. When I came out I couldnt get the key into the ignition! The lock cylindar is down and my car i rendered useless.

Anyone else have this problem?

Steering lock. If you turn your steering wheel when the car is locked this might happen. Try turn the wheel left/right a bit then try again.

I called roadside assistance and the said to manually lock all the doors and leave it for 15 mins. Then unlock the drivers door with the key... Just waiting for 15 minutes to pass. What an angering situation!

Well, the advise from roadside assistance didnt work. But, I shook the steering wheel hard and it disabled the lock! Thanks a lot stevenmaa188. I owe you!

Glad you got it working from the advice mentioned above. Most cars have this happen so it's nothing new.

Knock on wood, that this hasn't happen to any of my mazda's as of yet, but it did happen a few times with my GTI, damn frustrating when it does.

Always a big relief when you can get it to unlock

Heh, I love this situation because every car has the steering lock and 99% of people have no clue how to unlock it. It's one of those weird things you only learn 10 years after driving and it happens to you and you freak out, haha.
