Hey guys,
Can someone please tell me where I can get a viper 5501 or 5901 security system and get it installed for a good price. Also if you can include a little review on those viper systems that would be swell.
I also would be adding the remote trunk release which i believe is an add-on to those remotes.
Lastly, are those remotes gonna work on my 04 MZ3?
Thanks.
Sam.

Wait. Who told you VIPER "isn't that great"?
By far one of the best products on the market.

I have a friend who has worked as an car audio/alarm/starter technician for years and he would have been the one to install my alarm but at the time it was tough to meet up. Anyways, he said that when installing them and being at the shop 5 days a week, many customers came back with complaints or problems with the viper systems and ended up switching to compustar. Based on his experience and after talking to a few others I know who have the viper systems I chose the compustar.
however don't get me wrong, event though I may have phrased my first post wrong, Viper is still a good name in alarm/starters.. I just think based on other experiences that compustar is better..

I got the compustar RF-P2W901-SS*. This is the best remote they currently offer and I must say I am very pleased with it. the signal travel far even when inside a big building. I am amazed!

To OP, if you choose to pick one of these I recommend you choose the Compustar simly because it is a 2-way remote..this has nothing to do with the brand name. I find the 2-way function is VERY useful. However, it almost got me into a fight one time when my remote started buzzing and some drunk punks hit my car with a football during homecoming. At least with the 2-way remote you can catch whoever hit your car!

They have more than a dozen of stores in the West. You need a universal bypass transponder plus installation charge. I think you should check the price with Audio Haven/Lockdown Security for the whole thing (Alarm/Remote Starter and installation charge) or just the install only (you provide Alarm/Remote Starter) then compare which one is cheaper.

That we do and it also has a Lifetime warranty but is limited in both time and quantity. Still have a few left so don't panic but they are selling really well at this price.
I prefer Compustar over Viper but we have both. If you want to chat about either unit, give me a call and I can field your questions before you make your purchase from wherever.

Does immobilzer bypass need a key or without a key in the module?

Does immobilzer bypass need a key or without a key in the module?
For what car?
For a Mazda 3, you do not need to surrender a key but do need two keys for programming. Without 2 keys it can be done but it is more expensive. You will get your keys back to use afterwards. Certain vehicles you will lose a key but your Mazda 3 is not one of them.

CompuStar or Viper are both great brands. I chose the Vipers over the CompuStar because the fob is more slim so more comfortable in the pocket. I have the one-way remote with trunk popper installed and it's a great feature but be warn that in order to pop the trunk you are required to press+hold the button for about 3 seconds. This is a little annoying but it's to prevent you from accidentally popping the trunk.

Whichever alarm you choose to get, make sure you purchase and install them at an authorized dealer/installer.
I've seen people buy an alarm @ a flea market, and install it themselves based on tutorials found on YouTube. Within a year their car starts acting up. Then they have to do it all over again.

is it the viper 5601? how much did it cost you overall and where did u get it installed from?My kit was the Viper 5101 (One-way starter only). It costed me about $400 for the kit + bypass module, and trunk popping actuator. This was a few years back now. I got it installed by Selective Sound. They did a decent job and no big issue since. I would have liked it better if they would have explained a few extra features from the kit and ask if you are interested (i.e. auto-lock doors when you start car, etc.)
