Hey i am having some oil burning issues, as well as some minor knocking noise and an idle issue. I have a 05 Mazda 3 and the dealer keeps telling me there is no problems they can detect any issues at the moment on my car basically just brushing me off cause my warranty was expiring in the next 30 days. um i now have an expired warranty :@. I had a few people look at the car and they said i most likely need a motor rebuild. New rings, valve seals, etc. i was wondering if anyone knows of any fair priced, good mechanics in Durham region or Markham that do Motor rebuilds ?

Should have gone to another dealership if you were under warranty. Go to Street Performance...search them up on the forums.

street performance is NOT a dealer

go to another dealer while you still have warranty.... MOT, DWM, Avante, QEW are some of the good ones... there's mention of which dealers are good in the GTA on this forum

I guess now he should be making a case with mazda canada because he wasn't taken cared of while he was still under warranty

in any case, he should've came to us sooner so we could tell him to go to another dealer before it was too late... why wait till now to ask for help?

if you have service records showing that you were at the dealer complaining about the issues you can go to a different dealer show them the records and see what they can do for you
if not youcan take them to small claims court and sue mazda
my uncle had the same issues with a mazda tribute 1 week after the warranty the diff blew took them to court and they payed for replacement

Hopefully this can be resolved by Mazda as opposed to having to pay for the rebuild yourself (assuming dealer error).

If you end up having to pay for it yourself, you can check out Competition Automotive. They built my forged motors for me and are currently building CelestSpeed3s as well. They also do simple rebuilds which would fit your needs. You wouldnt believe how many OEM rebuilds they do for Honda and Subaru ;-)

At any rate, it may be cheaper for you to just buy a used motor from a totaled gen1 3 and swap it in.

Cheers.

In case you need the engine

2004 Mazda-3 Engine 2.3L $500 (http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-auto-parts-tires-engine-engine-parts-2004-Mazda-3-Engine-W0QQAdIdZ352000175)

Don't know it will work with 05 Mazda 3

2009 Mazda 3 2.0L 85K $1300 (http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-auto-parts-tires-engine-engine-parts-mazda-3-engine-for-sale-W0QQAdIdZ354590900)

My car still runs the motor is not blown yet car is consuming about 500 ml evrey 1000 km. so today i was driving and the check engin poped up so i got the scanner nd it threw a egr code! um does anyone think this could be the problem to my bad idel and oil consumption problem ? i also got a quote on the rebuild its $3200 for the motor to be fully built and installed with 1 year warrenty unl km. witch was veery scary quote but best i could find

ok since you didn't say anything about whether you tried/trying to fight mazda or not, I'm going to assume you just want to use money to fix the problem... $3200 sounds like an average price... consider pulling the motor out, tearing it down, machine shop costs, then putting it back in.... it sounds about right for labour rates... if you are going to use money to fix the problem, then take it to street performance at least!

Seeing you have records from outside shops, I would go back to the dealer that gave me problems and stick it right under their noses what other shops have said and forcefully get them to replace/rebuild the engine. talk to ROB23 here i am pretty sure he went through something similar.
Now another question I have for you though... Do you have records of all your oil changes from when you have owned the car or from the previous owner? If you don't then it could be looked at as simple lack of maintanence.

Give Active Engines a call. I don't know their pricing, but my friend works there, and I've seen some of the engines/cars/boats he/they put out

seeing replies like this are annoying.

you ask for help, several members give you a response.

You dont acknowledge a single piece of advice given, but rather ramble on about irrelevant shit.

I dont know why you bother posting.
Good luck fixing your car

EGR will cause a bad idle, but it wont cause your engine to burn oil.

The owner before me alwayse maintained his car i looked itno the recordes before i bough the car it was alwasye regularly dealer maintained and i have alwayse changed the oil when i noticed it was gettign low if i had time instead of toping it up so in the 20 km i ahve owned the car i probably did one evrey 3.5 km lol rediculas

i also figured i am not goign to do a engin rubild till the motor pops it still runs pretty decent considering the rough idle jumping up and down due to EGR valve and the massive oil consumption issue
