The thing is I'd like them to fade :chuckle
Heard that Rays fade but they are quite pricy... any others you've had experience that fade (like the drop? blackworks? etc.)

ps. how are muteki lugs... Looking at the SR48 ones as a "non-fade option" for a magenta look

Thanks.

Are you sure you want them to fade? I have had the Rays ones for a year now and they have faded to almost being pink.

Yup. I'd love to see how "faded" yours are!
I don't want them a deep red

I have some faded Work lugs I could sell you cheap lol, need to get some new lugs next season. Only thing is I can't sell them until April, but they are pretty much exactly what you're asking for

Drop lugs don't fade. The paint basically falls off them after 1 or 2 uses. Not recommended. Particularly from garage16 in case you need a replacement or have questions about warranty on them as you WILL be ignored. Ask me how I know. *rolls eyes*

Colored lugs generally suck for staying colored.

This is a "DROP manufacture" issue, not just Garage16.

Noted. But if you read what I wrote, if you have questions about warranty etc, Garage16 is not the place to get answers and/or help getting information on replacements from Drop (or any company for that matter). It's just a heads up. ;)

Me too in the end, still want colored though.

g16 should help the customer at least get the info to contact drop.

Muteki's are no better FYI

Scratched by their own packaging:

Oh not absolutely. Everyone should know the product they are buying and how it holds up to normal use.

Nope I agree 100% with you there. I don't see how these things can be so delicate with their purpose of use. You would think the R&D would have shown them that painting metal wouldn't hold up lol.

god damn, I don't want them to chip...
how are the RAYS ones? I heard they fade but do they chip as badly?

I want colered ones too

Rays don't chip they turn pink, Work too.

I spent a bunch of time looking into lugs last year and decided it wasn't worth it.

I asked a powdercoater yesterday if that would help and he said he wasn't sold on it working.

I think part of the problem is for whatever reason these companies are painting over chrome which never really works.

These were the drop lugs after one use :complain

If TWM would make coloured lug nuts I'd spend a few extra $$ to get this finish!!!

There are sockets you can get to prevent this. I'd also think a properly anodized piece would hold up just fine. Powder coating shouldn't even be offered, it won't hold up to constant abuse.

^ The pictures I posted the person used the socket that came with the lugs which was soft on the inside.

Anodized aluminum fades.

The only reason I say that, is because I happen to know a thing or two about anodizing.

This is a "DROP manufacture" issue, not just Garage16.

all drop does is take some mcguard style chrome lugs and paints/coats them. the cheap drop lugs ARE NOT aluminum "tuner" lugs

anodized lugs CANT chip, coated ones WILL.

While we're on the topic does anyone have experience with NRG lugs that g16 is offering? Concerned about chipping.

As said above.

Anodized lugs = fade but CANT chip

Coated metal lugs = WILL chip and likely wont have color on them long enough to fade.

Anything anodized aluminum, lug nut wize should be atleast $80 a set, and will likely be advertised as aluminum and anodized

The "nrg 800 series" are anodized aluminum.

Anodizing is basically a way of dying metals.

Any anodizing will fade over long term UV exposure or wear.

That and more importantly, the process is often used to ad thickness and strength.

first time I seen this...
when a customer have problems with a part, we contact the brand. WE are not the makers of the products, we are just the middle man for selling it

I only had 1 problem with member of the drop eng ones out of the 30+ sets I sold and we did contact drop and emailed and till today we have not got nothing back

We also gave member future discount's for this but guess they never posted that.. *rolls eyes*

I have drop lug nuts in black, of course they will chip if you aren't careful. Mine look perfect after installing and removing twice now. a good tip is to use one layer (or two if your socket allows for it) tight layers of saran wrap in between the socket and the lug nut. Works great, and be gentle.

I prefer the cheaper STEEL lug nuts because they are made of...STEEL.

The expensive aluminum ones might not chip, but the threads do not stand up to as much use. Why would you ever want aluminum lug nuts on a Mazda3 anyway is what I always say LOL!

Ugh. Here we go again. Ok Rick well since you brought it up...

when a customer have problems with a part, we contact the brand. WE are not the makers of the products, we are just the middle man for selling it

If you buy something from, let's say, Future Shop and it breaks, do you have to pester them and wait for weeks/months for them to call the manufacturer, only to have them say they can't do anything for you? No. The "middle man" seller (Future Shop) gives you a direct replacement on the spot (within reason) and sends the faulty product back to the manufacturer.

Want to argue that you're a small business? Okay, take Nextmod for example. I've had an issue with an HID kit. I contacted Peter and within the SAME DAY he got back to me and said he had a replacement kit ready for me to pick up. No questions asked. Same with Imports Tuning. I haven't purchased from him yet but I know plenty who have and the guy is on the ball when his customers have a problem. These sponsors don't just ignore the issue and hope it goes away.

At the end of the day, all I did was ask one simple question; "Is there a warranty of some sort on these?". I was blatantly ignored until I started warning other members, which is when you finally addressed my concerns and said you would help, but took 2 months to get back to me.

I only had 1 problem with member of the drop eng ones out of the 30+ sets I sold and we did contact drop and emailed and till today we have not got nothing back

This is not true as there are a few posts from members who have had the same issue, gabbygenier being one of them. And looking back quickly, another member by the name of komi had the same problem. I'm sure other complaints have been deleted or edited by yourself as we recently discovered you've done in your feedback thread... but that's a whole other story I don't need to get into.

We also gave member future discount's for this but guess they never posted that.. *rolls eyes*
I felt like I didn't need to embarrass you about the "discount" you offered 2 months AFTER the ordeal, but a small 10% discount doesn't quite cut it for a company that completely ignores and won't bother to address their customer's concerns.

Bottom line, I didn't even want a discount, OR a free replacement. I knew these lugs wouldn't last forever. In fact I think I even acknowledged that in my post when I first asked about a warranty. I just wanted to know what my options were and maybe know that you put in SOME effort in contacting them. But hey, I'm over it!! I just won't purchase anything from your store anymore, nor from Drop if they gave you the same problems you gave me. But FYI as a member of TM3, I am free to give other members a heads up if I feel it is necessary.

End of story.
