twist the knob off and take the cover off and c if anything is stuck near the shaft. lol if not then have a buddy outside and rock the car back and forth while you inside trying to get it out of gear? sry for the redneck solution but its worth a try... just dont push it like an old jeep, last thing you want is to actually get a new tranny...

did it happen all of a sudden? seems kinda wierd that its stuck in reverse... is it laying on the reverse gear? that can make it tough to put it back into gear...

okay, when i was driving i noticed when i was 5th on the highway it was hard to come out, id have to try like 3times to take make it come out or so,
then i noticed it started getting worst when i pulled into a driveway to reverse, it was hard to go in and when i would reverse it would kinda struggle to go, then i noticed a looooouuud wiring sound, kept getting louder and louder, then heard a loud bang, pulled ova, and seen some black shit leaking, soo i called my towman he came and said might be low on fluid??? we towed it to my house, perfectly fine, then after couple days i had to move it towards the back of my driveway, when i put it in reverse and drove it back it was fine, but when i tried taking it out it woudlnt come out ..... and thats wtf happend, sounds ****ed doesnt, ppl were telling may be clutch, buh when i push down the clutch and let go it shuts off

when the problem started happening, it didn't occur to you to go to a shop? problems just don't go away
just bring the car to a shop! you're in over your head!

a loud bang?? doesnt sound good. the clutch might of blew up and pieces of it might be lodged it there somewhere. might be a pin going and the gear came out of place and lodged in somewhere....seems like your gonna have to go get the transmission rebuilt. not sure if its cheaper to get a new one or not but hearing something getting louder and ending in a bang is bad.

@theman, yeh i did want to take it to a shop the thing was this alllllllll happpend in one day believe it or not, i noticed when R was getttin stiff, then the wiring started when i was on the highway and when i jumped off, and the loud wiring getting louder ending up with a loud bang happend near my destination,
@sliverstarmazda, clutch? was told that too, but i recall when i was one light away from destination i tried driving it there i made it there but it kept popping outta gear so i slapped it in 2nd and made it to my destination, and that's when i got it towed.

someting could be wearing out premature CRAZY. somethings not right and with a transmission, you wanna take something like that to a professional. personally i think manual is cheaper to work with than auto ( am i right?) cuz its all there wen u open it.... and auto has a bunch of stuff and some swiss cheese....

yweahh yur right, MT is cheaper than, AT, no mechanic really wants to work on a AT with bunch of bs and swiss cheeese but yeah, im just gonna have the whole tranny changed, what ever the prob is, this dumb noob i baught it from, said he had the engine changed 2x buh never changed the tranny

Sounds like your transmission detonated inside the case and you're seized in gear. Same happened to me with a Civic I used to own, but mine got stuck in second so I could at least get it to a shop. They pulled the transmission off and it turns out some idiot decided to use 10w - 30 oil as a lubricant for the tranny instead of proper transmission fluid for the Honda. Looked like a bomb had gone off inside my gear box.

That's probably what happened to madmox; I've seen a few cars that get stuck in gear like this from poor lubricant. The parts get too hot/worn and they seize up.

So what turned out to be the problem? How was it fixed? How much did it cost?
Who knows what might happen to our cars at 140 k lol it'd be good to have this to reference back to.

most likely the fluid that was used. got too hot and seized up. summer is starting to act up on my car a bit too, had to get one of the lock changed cuz it was seized. tha blower motor started to slow down cuz it was running on max for so long.
