I replaced my fog light bulb yesterday and now my low beams don't work at all. High beams, corners, fog lights all work. I've looked around for a fix to this but can't find a straight answer. What do u think?

I disconnected my battery prior to replacing the fogs...could this have caused the damage?

That's a very strange one. Disconecting the battery shouldn't have done anything. If anything it would have saved your car by disconecting the battery. What year is your car? Any mods done to your car lighting wise? I doubt it would be fuses because for 2 fuses to blow is a little far fetched. Also could be a true coincidence but maybe both bulbs are burnt?

It's a 2008 GS. So it doesn't have HID's. I doubt the bulbs are burnt, but I haven't checked them yet. It's strange because they were working after I worked on the fogs. The following day I noticed they weren't working.
It can't be anything to do with the DRL system can it? because they weren't working at night.
Thanks for the prompt reply

08s have the highbeams running at 50% power as the drl's the lowbeams are not connected to them in any way. My money is on the bulbs being burnt out. Halogen bulbs can look ok physically but still be blown. Sometimes a hard enough smack may bring them back to life. At the cost of 2 halogen bulbs I think its worth a shot to repace them and see especially since they are your main source if light. I would check the fuses anyways but I don't believe that they could be blown unless you have a short somewere which would be odd

+1 on both bulbs being blown.
If the fogs work, then the low-beam fuse is intact. (The fog relay is partially controlled by power from the low beams, and the connection is on the protected side of the rh low beam fuse). So since the fogs are coming on that means the low beams have power.

Does a Mazda 3 not have a bulb failure indicator on the dash then?

Someone mentioned earlier bout checkin the fuse....I remember when I was doin a hid upgrade when I had my 07 3, I had that same problem..no lows but all else was working. I thought I fubarred something. But it was only the fuse. Inside the car, usually under glove box there is a fuse box. Check your manual and look at the fuse panel. There's a fuse JUST for the low beams. Mine was burnt...I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that....only a $1.50 repair (cost of fuse) as opposed to a new circuit board or something :)
Good luck ! and cross ur fingers too ;)

So it turns out that in auto and headlight mode, the fog lights come on, but the low beams do not.
In driving lights (middle) mode, headlights come on, fog lights don't.
This is really messed up. What could it be? :S

Have you had anything else apart, ever? A previous owner? Are you *sure* the headlights were working properly before you swapped out the fog bulbs?

Yes the car is completely stock and the low beams were working fine both before and immediately after the fog replacement. It stopped working a day after

You have no light modifications done?
Do the headlights stay on at all times when the key is off? I have seen cases like that were the PJB was cooked

Nope. When the stalk is in off position, everything turns off

I think by far the worst type of car problems are the FRIGGIN electrical ones :(

I`ve got the the 2008 wiring diagrams.... I`ll have a look at it and see where things might be crossed up.....
