Hi all, just got my new (well used) 12" Alpine Type r sub installed to my stock deck. Its all connected to a Sony XM-GTR6001 amp and it pounds hard!!! I'm really happy with the set up and it didn't cost much eitherr. If you guys have some sick set ups, post some pictures!

What did you use to hook up to the stock deck? Everything I have heard of before doesn't work well.

A LOC (line out converter) works fine for just hooking up a sub.

The only reason I asked was because the last 2 I installed for friends, their subs had a lot of feedback coming out sub because of the converter (known because I tried the sub connected to my deck and no feedback) So I was just wondering if there was a better way.

You may require a better quality LOC or perhaps something was up with the install. No offense to your skills of course.

Was it engine noise?

mines connected to my stock deck for almost 2 years without any problems. maybe check the wiring to the loc. did you wrap it up in electrical tape well?

My buddy new a place who does really good installs. I could have done it myself to a deck but I didn't want to mess anything up with the stock stereo. Yeah all you need is the line out converter and a fuse for the battery hook up. I also got a bass line controller put in so I can control how much bass I want, really worth it because without it every song has crazy bass even if it never had bass before :chuckle.

Too be quite honest, I soldered the wires, I hooked them up exactly like the instructions, and those 2 GM cars I did it in were the only two that have screwed up. I have had 4 cars with sound systems now, and I have to say my Mazda 3 was the easiest. but those other GM ones just sucked with the converters. I have installed all my sound systems myself, and those were the only two to screw up. Maybe my friend just bought crappy converters. All my systems have been with aftermarket radios, and I believe they were all Kenwood decks.

I prefer to stick with decks, just simpler :P and I like the Alpine that the op got, I had a set of those, but sold to get different Kenwoods :P

Off-topic, gabby, what part of Ottawa you from? I will be around the University for most of week starting tomorrow.
