so i picked up some gram lights to use for track/auto-x but i didn't check the centre bore as i was blinded by greed (really good price). in picture one, it is about 60mm in diameter, which is of course too small for our hub, but in picture two it is 70mm+. i am guessing the hub is supposed to clear the centre opening in picture one?

Mazda hub is 67mm IIRC, you may just want to run a small spacer to avoid boring out the front of the wheel.

thanks bro. i was thinking of that; is there one you can recommend? what i am confused by when it comes to spacers is the bore, for example ichiba is 67.1mm. how would that help me from having to bore out my wheel.

As sawatsky says, I agree you should be able to get away with some hub rings. Check with Exclusive or Simply Tire depending on what side of town you're at.

I think if you get a 3 or 5mm spacer, it won't come with a "hub extension" (for lack of a better term), you're just left with less of your hub extending past the spacer.

Compare 5mm to 15mm spacers

^that pic clarified everything.

before i send out a mass pm to all the sponsors and start 'WTB' hub spacer thread, is there any brand or specifics i should know about? is ichiba v1 5mm sufficient?

The ones pictured are H&R... But I would assume Ichiba are the same.

Have you tried mounting them yet? If the opening on the back side is 70mm and it's deep enough, they will probably bolt up, even if the front opening is only 60mm. It will be pretty obvious once you try to mount them if they will work or not.

It might just be the dirt and the angle of the picture, but it almost looks like there is a set of hub rings in the center bore of those wheels.

d'oh, this is true. The hub won't extend through the front opening. They should bolt up, though you will probably need hubcentric rings since the bore on the gram lights is bigger

p.s., the consequences will never be the same

its just dirt, not rings lol. of note, the seller (who has a beautiful all motor FB rx7) said that they fit a 03 protege fine (which has the same bore as mz3 at 67.1mm).

Have you test fitted yet? Or just worried since measuring?

The front hole is just for a centercap/aesthetics. The one in the rear is what you should look at. Its over 67.1mm, so it should fit on the car fine without spacers.

It will fit. The center bore is measured from the back of the rim (Pic 2 70mm+).

^ you guys were right. turns out the the outer opening is for aesthetics, specifically the centre cap. it bolted right up! i may need some hub rings, but that's about it :)

thanks for all the help. can't wait to put these on!
