Hey guys,

Sooo I recently purchase a H7: MORIMOTO ELITE HID SYSTEM from the retrofit source for my 2006 3. I installed the proper capacitor to the relay but notice my passenger side flicker like crazy when I release the ebrake. The driver side is good overall but the passenger side is giving heck.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

A diagnostic method that you can try is to switch the ballasts and see if the same thing happens to the driver side. If yes, then you know it's a faulty ballast. If you've done this, then perhaps switch the bulbs.

Where is the capacitor in the circuit, and what did you use for the signal wire on the relay?

If you switch the ballasts its the same as switching the buulbs.

To OP
Just bypass the DRL's and do the indy fog mod or something.
Sounds like a problem with the way the relay was setup though

If he used a cap the signal wire would have to be the headlight wire. And seems like he got it right on the drivers side

I took my old cap from my other HID

(Thanks to Meaty_g for the pics)

When I turn off the headlight, I notice the passenger side turn off slower than my driver side. Same thing when turning them on.

Morimoto are good ballasts, I think you may have wired something wrong...

I re did everything and installed a new cap.
Notice I only use one OEM headlight connector for this setup and installed the cap. Then cover the passenger connector with electrical tape.

Overall works.

Thank you everyone.

Good ballasts or not there is always a chance of something being defective right out of the box. I have seen it before and speak from experience

Dude!! Do yourself a favor this weekend since the weather I warm;

A) Go a bike shop or Canadian tire and buy yourself a mountain bike inner tube.... Cut it into appropriate lengths for each of the connections you made.

B) unplug each connection and slide one of those inner tube sleeves on, then put the plug back together

C) get some zipties and tightly Close up each end of the rubber tube so it looks like a sausage

This will keep all of your connections dry as a bone and prevent any future electrical problems that usually result from moisture or water. Some guys say they use "electricians shrink tube", and that's fine. But I say "when" not "if", you get ballasts that malfunction, it's alot easier to cut the zip ties and slide the tubing off the connection than it is to try to cut the shrink tube WITHOUT nicking or cutting a critical wire. ;)
Just my thoughts, and i know this may not be directly involved with your flicker, but since you are in the finishing stages....my mom always said "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound or cure" :D
hope this helps

This is a great idea! I'll be doing this, thanks for the tip.

Dude that is a great idea!

Just finish shrink wrap all the connectors now.

Thanx guys :) if ya want I'll post some pics of my wire setup. But I'll create a new thread. Don't wanna jack Fumoffu's thread ;)

Remember if u shrink wrap w electricians tubing, you'll wanna be REEAAL careful when you remove it... Don't wanna nick or cut into a wire or you'll be in a world o hurt
