12" alpine type r or 15" Kaption?

trying to decide what to buy..the 12" type r brand new for $250 cash or the 15" kaption for $300 cash?

15" subs are big, heavy, and need a huge box.

I had a type R in my gti, and 2 in my mazda3. Trust me, its more than enough

i believe the enclosure specs on both subs are the same

All depends on the type of music you listen to
the 15" will give you a deeper - rumblier bass hit (awesome for hip hop reggae, etc)
the 12" type R has a cleaner punchier hit

Both will sound good IMO

i listen to a lot of hip hop/rap but i enjoy clean bass rather than bass that will just make my car shake and sound horrible

sealed will be cleaner
ported,vented, and bandpass will be rumbly

I had sealed both times.
It was still more than loud enough.
I also had type r speakers, and a pair of 200 watt amps for em.

i have a 12" type r in a ported. I do wish it was sealed but I'm pretty happy with it.

You can pick them up for a good price sometimes, I sold my used one for $80 last month and someone got it within the hour

i just moved out here about a year ago. this forum served me very well when i had my mazda3 a while back.

uuuhhhh, i know of a couple places that sold them, but they're in Burlington. Radioactive and Keith's Stereo.
check with the sponsors? im not familiar with Toronto at all.
