HELP ! sunroof wont open at all,

I went to open my sun roof today and it started too make a god alful noise.. and now it wont open what so ever
its clearly out of place some how... it was working fine last night only diffrence is its about 30 in the sun today any help Please!?

Out of alignment possibly? Gear may be broken/stripped. You will need to take it somewhere and have it looked at.

Yep, beyond my repair capablities, have and appt with apple tomorrow morning, NOT something i wanted on my spring break

It's plastic little gears and crap inside. It probably stripped somewhere.

But hey, rather stuck closed than stuck open ;)

Yeah i geuss, its not like the motor isnt pulling the glass, beacause it is , its jsut caught up because it appears to be out of aligment :(

Exactly. Sunroof on my Protege5 got stuck open, had to take out the headliner and drop the whole assembly out to repair. Turned out one of the crimp caps holding the ends of the cables in had come off so the motor couldn't pull it shut.

If you're hearing grinding it probably means the gears are either stripped a bit or out of alignment with each other.

Apple Auto Glass? seems... not right to bring it to them. I feel like mazda dealership would charge roughly the same and be able to get the parts faster.

robie street mazda quoted per hour was 90 sumthing and apple was 54 per hour, dealership's are crooks around here not like up there in GTA area. those prices are just to LOOK at the problem not to nessaciarly do anything

Had same issue with mine it turned out the screw that holds up the motor wich is located right above sunroof switch had fallen out. Just dropped head liner and put screw back in and she worked like new. Maybe somthing to check before taking it in ?

Being the modern "civic" that all the kids are buying and trashing, (judging by my insurance rates, anyway) you should be able to find a motor/assembly at a local auto wreckers. do you have any near by?

You have to get the whole thing as one piece unless you can talk a wreckers into giving you just the gears.
