Any opinions on these tires ?

I ran the Falkens most recently and had terrible luck with them - first a damaged sidewall when they were almost brand new then a non-repairable puncture ... so ended up actually buying 2 replacement tires (yes, I know ... not the fault of the tires). Also I felt that the treadwear wasn't great. They lasted me approx 2 summers only. I know the Falkens are less expensive so looking for some feedback on the Yoko's and Goodrich. Both have a rebate coupon right now.

The Yokohoma's are amazing. Great handling and very quiet...I use them currently and recommend them :)

If you want to go with Falken, be prepared to buy tires every ~2 seasons.

I think in this price range/segment of tires, the best value (looks, dry/wet traction, tread design, treadwear, rim protector) is the General GMAX AS-03 tire. General has a rebate on them right now and Canadian Tire had them on sale recently. So double discount, not sure if Canadian Tire still has them on sale. Check them out, reviews are quite good, it does have some high-tech features too. Continental did a great job on this General Tire

Yokohama Envigors.... amazing tires! Falkens do tend to wear quickly.

Leaning towards the General GMAX right now. Tires and installed at Crappy Tire for $600 + taxes + $35 M/C gift card

Don;t forget to add balancing! Plus the Envigor has a $50 rebate I think.

General GMAX = $600 + $120 balancing = $720 + 81 taxes = $813 - $35 M/C gift card = $778

Best Price I got on the Envigor = $750 installed and balanced - $50 mail in rebate = $700

I like the positive reviews especially from magazines etc I have seen on the General performance

Price is very close but I like the positive reviews especially from magazines etc I have seen on the General performance

If you have crappy tires on your rims now, go visit the US for a set. I got my Yoko's in Buffalo 2 seasons ago fro ~$550.
205/50/17 sizing too.

Depending where he lives, it may not be worth the time.

What size are you after?

I don't have any garbage tires on the rims so it's not an option.

If I go 18" then 225/40/18

If I go 17" then 205/50/17

You can get these for $705 and $785 out the door from a couple sponsors here (depending one size).

Take off the rebate, and $655 out the door for the 17" is great. It may be a touch cheaper over the boarder (prices are higher now than 2yrs ago when it was introduced), but if you buy them here you support local business, and have better warranty services

+1.

I got them for a crazy price but I guess the corporate people took notice and have steadily raised the price since the initial positive reviews.
FWIW, I would definitely get another set in the future :thumbsup

New to market tires are always good prices, then they jack them on us :(

If you're down to choosing between the General G Max AS-03 and the Yokohama Avid Envigor, it's worth noting that the G Max is an All-WEATHER tire and the Envigor is an All-SEASON tire.

Sorry to slightly hijack this thread, but any comments on how these tires would compare with the Hankook Ventus v4? The price of the v4 is quite low and it has lots of great reviews.

What kind of price are you getting on the V4? Its a very solid tire. Its a little dated (been out a while), but thats not necessarily a bad thing.

The Envigor will last longer than the V4, but both are well worth their price :)

Tires23 quoted me around $660 installed including tax for the Hankook V4. They said there was a manufacturers special on the tire at the moment (last week when I talked to them).

I am looking for a balance of performance, value and tread life. From my research, even though the V4s wear faster than a long life touring tire, the low cost makes up for it.

You can get the Envigor for the same price basically after rebate... that would be my choice.
