Hey guy's - i had a big stereo in my old car (1550 Monoblock, 2 RF T1's, Kinetic 1400w Battery, 270Amp alternator, Kenwood excelon 4S & 4x Focal Access 6.5's + tweeters)
I'm looking to migrate the speakers + 4chan, my old JL amp and a 10 or 12" single subwoofer. Now i know that i need a LOC between my HU and my Amps but what im wondering is
A) How much is too much to run off of a stock power setup in a 3 ? Approx. 980w with 4Chan + Sub , Can my car handle that as is? Or am i gonna need to redo the whole system (again, ugh!)
B) Is a single LOC gonna be able to split for my mono AND 4chan or is there another way of doing it?
Any feedback is appreciated
Cheers
Travis

if you have proper wiring, your car should be able to handle it, but if you have the Bose model system you may need to rewire as the stock HU often cuts out bass signals.
I think one LOC will be fine to be honest, but I haven't wired anything up myself yet so I'm not 100% sure.

A) you should be fine like that. might not be able to run full power though. the stock alternator is only 90amps. ive been running my system (jl audio 1000w monoblock and jl audio 300W 4 channel) and i havent had any issues. i also only have 4 gague wiring. i cant run it full power cause the amp cuts out from loss of power but i think thats cause my capacitor is dying since i used to be able to do it no problem before. just get a descent capacitor or if you still have the kanetix batt youll be fine.
B) if you want good sound i wouldnt cheap out on the LOC. id get the JL cleansweep of the rockford 3sixty. the 3sixty has outputs for the subs and the highs. so that one would be best IMO since it would do all the processing.

+1 on gabby's comment on getting a higher end LOC to go with your high-end audio gear. You might also want to do a big 3 upgrade as well as a battery upgrade (yellow top comes to mind) if you want to put down all that power and still have enough left to crank your car every day.

+1 on the batt. i had a redtop and it lasted me 4 years. finally died this winter. it helped a lot when i originally put it in my car. but if you still have the kanetix batt that would be fine with the stock batt as long as the batt is in good shape
also a + on the big 3. the main one that helped was the ground from the batt to the chassis. but make sure you clean the paint off have a good solid ground. also id recommend cleaning the connections once a year with our winters as i had issues with that last month. my ground from my batt had some corrosion and it was giving me weak power until i fixed it. one recommendation would be dielectric grease
