Hi guys,

I was driving to hockey yesterday and one of my buddies was following me and he said when i pushed it hard my car shot out some black smoke (not alot and only the once). Now i rarely ever push my car in fact this would have been the first time in 6 months i have been over 4000 rpm, I have a 2006 2.0 L and car has been running smoothly (knock on wood).

What could this be ? Should I be worried or is it nothing ?

Thanks in advance

Don

Many of my cars (including the old Speed 3) would do that once in a while under WOT on the highway.
Doubt it's anything to worry about unless it's happening all of the time.

Stock or aftermarket exhaust?

Should be fine I think it's normal to do that occasionally...as long as she still drives fine and doesn't do it consistently I wouldn't worry too much.

All stock, and i figured as much just better safe than sorry. Maybe its my car telling me to stop driving like a 78 year old lady .:chuckle

Maybe!

I went WOT in front of one of my friends last summer and when I asked him if any smoke came out of my exhaust he said yeah...and I haven't had a problem since.

fyi, any car will go instantly rich when you step on it.
the PCM will ignore the readings from the O2 sensors, and it'll just dump fuel in.

black smoke is normal. er, some smoke.
