Looking for some advice from the forum members on (2) questions that I'm sure are discussed in length already - please bare with me.

I have a 06' Mazda 3 GT Sport with stock 17" rims and in dire need of new rubber with the summer months coming fast.

Don't like the stock look of 205 50 R17 so I've done some homework on the forum plus 1010tires.com and their tire calculator to determine what would fit on stock rims without affecting the speedometer and/or rubbing, etc.

Questions:

1 - Is the stock 2006 17" wheel a 17x6.5 or 17x7?
2 - My research has shown that a 215 45 R17 would fit properly with only throwing out the speedometer 1km/hr.

Again ... I know this is probably covered on various threads however would truly appreciate insight from savvy forum members so I can make the right decision for my tire setup so I get the proper size without issue, and also the look I want on my stock setup.

Thanks in advance to whomever replies to my post

1) They are 6.5" wide
2) That is a statement, there is no question :P You are correct in that 215/45/17 is a good size to go.

Thanks very much stevenma188 & fumoffu. Really appreciate the feedback as this helps my decision a lot.

Considering purchasing Sailun Atrezzo Z4+AS in 215 45 R17:

My car is stock except for a Rear Sway Bar so I don't need an overhaul for rubber being a daily commuter.

Look at the sponsor posts. Sailun tires arent as cheap as they should be IMHO, and you can usually do better for the money.

I can get them for $115.00 per tire at 215 45 R17. That's decent for 17" rubber?

I'm open to suggestions if you have better options. Appreciate any forum members input and advise.

Never heard of that brand. Did some google and it is a chinese brand.

Overall as someone posted early. Check the sponsors for better prices and brand. Also you can check out 1010 tires, Tire Rack and Discount Tire direct (free shipping to Canada).

I know you can get the Falken FK452 from a sponsor for $490. Thats only $60, for a much better tire. :)

Thanks John. Which sponsor, and are these tires quiet, comfortable and good in the wet?

I'm currently running the Falken 452's and they're great summer tires and pretty comfortable compared to my stock ones

Thanks for the input. I decided to go with Yokohama AVID Ascend tires. Really happy with them so far.

Ascend is brand new, so I don't know much about it. That being said, the Avid lineup is one of my faves... Good choice!
