What made the hole? Is it still in the tire? Where is the hole?

Hole in sidewall - Need new tire
Drove for a while on the flat - Need new tire
If it's just something like a nail in the tread, any of the tire sponsors can repair it.

Just put on your spares for now then bring it to a shop. If it can be repaired, then just get it fixed. If it can't be salvaged, might as well get 2 tires to balance it out.

How's the thread on the tires?

the thread on the tires is still like 80% :(

i took it to a shop, they patched it up, but said imma prob need a new tire. so does that mean i need 2 new tires or just one ? so annoying !

Where was the hole in the tread? and If you still have 80, you could get away with replacing one, but that means that's going to be the one best tire.

Generally they say you should replace tires in pairs to keep things even on the same Axel.

I'm not sure why they would say you would need new tires if they repaired it properly with a plug patch.

Do you know if they removed the tire from the wheel and put a plug through? Hopefully they did not just plug the hole from the outside without a plug patch.

Why do you have a problem with those insert patches? Those are simple and I find them very effective. Never had one leak or fall out. If you need to save money, do one tire if you must. Two is better. Not going to dispute that.

Those insert patches are not considered a proper repair as there is the possibility they could leak or fall out. Perhaps one of the tire sponsors will chime here to back me up.

With the plug patch, there is no way for the plug to fall out. I'd hate to hit a pothole and have one of them pop out. I guess for me, the plug patch is piece of mind.:.02

back wen i use to work for ford, we always used plugs and never had a problem unless someone did a shit job. and usually i have to fix them, and i have never had any customer comming back complaining about anything. are they putting rubber cement on the plug before inserting it? did they rasp the hole before inserting it? (setting it on fire was optional but fun) we only use inner patches if the hole was a little too big for the plug.

they said its on the side wall of the tire, so they cant guarantee it will hold... shud i be concerned

yes, if the puncture was near the side wall, the repair would not hold since the side wall is constantly flexing. then again my co-worker was able to patch his sidewall from the inside out and somehow it worked for the life of the tire... not recommended though because a catastrophic failure might occur since the compromised tire is under pressure and speed

Switching from winter tire to all season last monday and
I saw a tiny nail on my all season tire. It's an inch away
from the side wall and almost all tire shop I've been
wont even try fixing and suggest to buy a new tire.

Drive around look for a small shop and they patch it
from inside and balance the wheel. I suggest to put the
repaired tire from the rear so it doesn't flex much like
the front tire.

So far so good.
