Why bother?
I know the theory behind it but don't trust the " proof"

Lol. Not another nitrogen thread ;). I like the green plastic valve caps!! I got so many people really believing that I loved green valve caps in this thread:

The only reason I had nitrogen in the first place is because the dealer filled them up that way at purchase. After storing my tires away for winter I found that my tires dropped 8 psi. That has made me a non believer, not to mention I now own a compressor so I can just check my tires and fill them up as needed.

i say dealer scammed you
i have 4 sets done
and in the past 2 years not 1 psi dropped

Not all Canadian tires offer this service

Sure it will help keep your psi slightly more consistent over varying pressures, but I'm also sure you know what % of our atmosphere (which is free) comes with nitrogen as well lol

- coming from long time air user who has never lost PSIs in a tire at a consistent temperature

costco, that's all they have

It's not a lot of money for nitrogen - but more a waste of a perfectly good $20

Is it really that hard nowadays to check your own tire pressure and pump air at a gas station IF your low?

I gotta get gas every week.
It's routine now that I at least look at my front and rear driver side tires as I exit the vehicle. And look at the passengers side as I re-fuel.

If I have the slightest hint that my psi might be off - then I grab my gauge and check/fill.

Same reason why I hate TPM sensors. Useless and expensive piece designed for lazy people. Which brings another point...dealer installed TPMS will eventually phase out the demand/need for nitrogen.

most dealers carry nitrogen and if you have a sticker in your winodw from symtech you get free top ups at a dealer that carrys it ( we do just an fyi ) but in regards to Default Users post, make sure to double check your tires with another pressure gauge as i have known many gas station pumps to have bad readings which in turn gives you over or under filling.

idk, my winters are filled with nitrogen, i did have to refill once though so you still have to monitor it. maybe it lasts longer, maybe not. but imho regular air is plenty good.
unless you can fill with helium and drive through fires, that would be fun lol

go buy a foot pump and a tire gauge, and store that in ur trunk. i think that costs around 20 bucks too and u can fill up anywhere

You know for like 15 (on sale) you can get a air compressor that runs off your battery... Ive had mine for 8 years now and its still going strong. I cant imagine how long a foot pump would take in comparison to that lol

A foot pump does not take very long when you are just topping up a few psi.

From empty ya, you will have a sore leg.:D

Nitrogen in passenger car tires is the biggest scam I have ever seen. Ambient air is already 78% N2, and most commercial "nigrogen generators" can only get that number up to around 90%. The temperature differential is not so great on your tires in any normal regime of driving that the delta-P between air and a 90% N2 mixture will be significant. The greatest advantage to pressure stability in tires is to get "dry air". Water vapour is the most succeptible to temperature changes, but is still less than 1% of the ambient mixture anyway.

Plus (and here's the real kicker) I can inflate my tires with air for FREE. I'm cheap. I also check my pressures regularly, as most responsible drivers do. If your dealership kicks it in for free then great, but otherwise its a waste of money.

If I have nitrogen can i fill it up with regular air from gas station? Will the regular tie gauge work with nitrogen?

When I got my tires filled with nitrogen I was told I could use regular air to "touch up" my tire pressure. As for tour air pressure gauge it should work fine

absolutely not. the oxygen will mix with the oxygen causing a very volatile mixture.

...yes, it's fine. god dammit, why do so many people ask this question?
