Guess its time to let the proverbial cat out of the bag....... in about six weeks my wife and I are expecting a new addition to the family! This means that at the moment I am in hardcore wife-happiness-protection mode. We don't know if we're having a boy or a girl, but either way - "I shall call them mini-Aitch" (which is appropriate given that Aitch = "H" for my last name, Hayward).

This is also another reason why I got a hatch this time, for the extra storage space and room for the pup to ride in the hatch with baby in the backseat lol.

Congrats! My son was born in January and its been quite the ride so far. Lots of precious moments awaiting, enjoy every moment of it.

In regards to the hatch, the interior cabin of the 3 is quite small so you'll find that fitting a rear facing car seat in the back is a challenge. I have mine mounted behind the passenger seat and good thing the wifey is small.

Modding now is going to take a backseat to your new baby. :)

I figure its going on the passenger side. My wife is also small and rides with the seat pulled up a bit. I'm trying to get the mods done now as I know I won't have time or energy the rest of the summer!

I'm definitely terrified in some ways. I actually would have posted this much earlier but my wife wanted to keep things under wraps until close to the end.

I SOOO want a baby Recaro. Maybe when he/she is a bit bigger. At that point we'll just use the iPad though!

How did I know? Here's my wife (on the right of course) at a recent wedding.

I know, neither is my wife. Even the stock suspension is tough on her belly when we go over staggered bumps. Working on a compromise with her

Ha! Certain things shouldn't be crowd-sourced to gearheads. Someone asked me what I thought the first word would be, and I said "either Mom or car".

IIRC You can only get them / pick them up in the US. They wouldn't ship it to me :(

Not if that is what (s)he's used to from day one!...

This is so true! My kids were in my back seat when I had my Talon. Fart can, Tein coilovers..... they never complained. In fact, the rumble always soothed them and they would fall asleep in minutes! (Or was that due to the fumes?....lol) And one of my youngest son's first words was "car," no joke. Hot Wheels was his best friend.

Good luck!

I thought that was because they won't pass our safety standards?

I thought that was because they won't pass our safety standards?

i was told they dont like shipping outside of their own transporters.
car seats are usually written off if ever in an accident, or even dropped, etc., as it "compromises the safety integrity of the unit"

so that being said, they dont trust what "might" happen to the unit once it crosses the border
However, they have no problem if we were to drive over to Buffalo, and buy one there in person

(at least - this is what I've been told)

midnightfxgt
04-25-2012, 02:46 PM
Yea, I'd be careful... When I was looking a few years ago for a friend it was due to Recaro not wanting to pay for Canadian Certification. Rumour was that they would need at least $1M in market share before coming to Canada was feasible, and never took the leap. As such, I don;t think they are certified by Transport Canada... which means if you run one, I think, if caught, you could be fined. :(

Anyways.... back on topic. I agree we should set up a poll for the baby's name :)

there we go - Alexa - then get an Axela badge, and move the letters around before affixing it to the car

So on Tuesday my wife pulled through 27 hours of labor to deliver Ethan James Hayward, 6lbs 14oz. She's a total champ and now we have an adorable poop machine to cuddle with.
