im just about ready to install two 12" subs and amp into my new 2004 Mazda 3. I had the stereo part of things apart today and it looks pretty complicated. I have everything ready to go, I'm just waiting on a desicion on what kit to pick up. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on which stereo mounting kit to pick up for a double din deck. just startin to learn things so sorry for the noob questions and such. any advice would help! :) (I have my friend that has hooked up plenty of systems and really knows his stuff to help me with the install so I'm not all alone on this one lol)
thank you

Scosche Kit or the Metra Kit I have one for sale in the classifieds.
Try searching as well, no big deal but there are a few threads on this topic

I've had that same question for the past week or so, due to face that i want to upgrade my sound. from my online research, the majority of people say that scosche is better than the metra kit.

IF you check out my thread about my system update in the first pic with the two decks on top of each other I'm using the Metra kit, if you look at the final pic with the App Radio 2 installed I'm using the Scosche Kit

Dave, can you confirm that the Scosche is the better kit. It appears that is doesn't use an inner trim ring that the Metra and would look much cleaner IMO.
Thanks,

If you don't buy his dash kit, you can buy my metra one. it's in great shape, i used it for a bit until i got a double to house my tablet
I never liked the Scosche kit. It has a flat piece that covers the whole where the clock used to be. The metra turns it into a pocket, i usually put my phone in there it's handy

found an old picture of my Metra installed if you want a better idea of looks. I loved having the extra storage pockets above and below.

I now have a double din metra and it fits pretty well. It looks a little off because of the way i had the tablet wedged in between the clips. It's actually pushing things apart so the gap is a bit bigger. a normal double din unit wouldn't do that.
