Decided to change my system

So I got inspired this week by the new App Radio 2 and decided that I was going to install it and change my system up.

Now those who have seen my system will wonder if I'm crazy based on what I already had, well let's just say I've been growing bored of the in-dash flip out NAV quality and the ability to truelly integrate my iphone 4S into my car.

However, I wasn't giving up my 99rs there isn't a piece of audio equipment for any car that can match the sound quality that this deck puts out so I had to get a little creative because the App Radio 2 is a 7" double din and I'm keeping the main audio processing through the 99rs, my plan was to go RCA out of the App Radio 2 into the 99RS. I wasn't going to use the App Radio 2 for music primarily I would still keep my itouch hooked up as my dedicated music device but I wanted a better NAV interface, the BT is way better, and various apps that are now supported I wanted to have access to.

So my plan was to move the 99RS to the glove box and keep everything stealth and beautiful.

Say, case you don't remember, I was the dude that was pm'n ya about wiring through the molex. Do you think you can post a step by step for the glove box tear-down and also for the stuff you had to unscrew/remove to get to the driver side molex as well? Figured since your doin a stereo re-fit....why not right? ;)

I could tell you put a boatload of thought and planning when you put your systems together. Very nice. It probably sounds like a studio in there with all the sound dampener and the extra speakers too :thumbsup

I'm in love with the AppRadio2. I think I'll be putting the DA-100 in my car too. It's such a nice unit, just really hard to come by from suppliers. Everywhere is selling out of them faster than they can get them. Every time we get one in, we sell it before I have a chance to scoop it up. We have a few more coming in this week though.

Those 2 copper looking wires are the speaker wires.

Love it!!!! There is an update to the App radio App DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT there is a bug they are working on that somehow got into the update.

Very cool Dave! So your deck doesn't have a built in GPS but you can use an GPS app? I guess that would make the deck cheaper because there is no built in GPS?

It does have a built-in GPS antenna so it uses the APP for mapping and then using your cell data and the built-in GPS antenna you have 99.9% GPS accuracy because it's using two connections.

The only thing I can tell you after using both of them you want the App Radio 2 not the App radio 1

The App Radio 2 has more system expansion capabilities with 2 RCA pre outs and 7" screen.

I understand budgets but for $500 plus a free App you have system that's comparable to any premium navigation system.

Remember this was made for iPhone customers and if you love the iPhone you'll love this deck.

I've been shopping around and I'm not getting them quite yet, but from looking around teh cheapest I've found the APPRadio2 for is $400 + shipping. That's pretty good for what I'm aiming at. I'm not concerned about the output since I dont PLAN on putting in any additional speakers/setups, but then again I never planned on buying a 2011 Mazda 3 to begin with.

I suggest going with the DA-100
The DA-02 is cheaper but does have less features and for the amount of difference in price, the extra screen size is worth it alone.

How customizable is the home screen? I wouldn't have any use for Pandora, but might want to put something else like Rdio or the CBC radio app in that slot.

Can't do any customization with home screen, for pas like Rdio you have to access them in the apps screen.

I was waiting for someone to do this. How do you like it after playing with it for bit?

I knew it was a little buggy, it seems to work like Android, with it kicking you out of apps etc.

I'm also looking forward to see how it works with "Jelly Bean"

I'm glad we have a few of these in stock because I've already had calls for them the last few days.

The Jailbreak really opens it up to a whole new level.
By far my favourite head unit that is currently available.

I think I will try it on the AVIC - Z140BH that we have here today.

Ah I was reading about that somewhere but they hadnt got the touch elements of the screen emulation to work. That's pretty cool. Not sure on the real pratical aspects of that though, but never the less this is a Unit I plan on getting next summer :]
