I'm sure most of you have heard about this already. Here's the video:

My personal opinion: Taxi driver should walk, the *real* attackers should pay for his vehicle repairs.
Edit: More on the story here (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/story/2012/05/02/montreal-taxi-driver-bail-hearing-hit-and-run.html)

I feel that the cabbie had ample opportunity to leave even though he was extremely harassed. The guy who got his ass run over doesn't get any sympathy from me and should have just as many charges against him.
There is another video angle of this but it is kind of graphic. I would suggest that it doesn't get posted here.

The guy who got ran over deserved it. As for the Cab driver, my judgement is reserved.
As mentioned earlier, cab driver could have just driven off and called the police.
The most important yet unknown factor is whether the Cab driver ran over the dude out of fear or out of anger.

Yeah, that video is definitely too graphic for here.
The cabbie should have just left and ignored them. This whole thing started because he felt someone closed the door too loudly, he knocked over lamp posts and almost killed innocent bystanders. Regardless of these drunk morons' actions, that doesn't give him the right to try to kill someone. That being said, they're both in the wrong and both deserve all the charges thrown at them.

Someone kicks my car. I get out and bash heads.
Cabbie walks. BUT so does everyone else.
Cabbie doesn't. No one else does.
IMO at least.

That's what's the guy in the video says. The driver testified in court that the whole problem is there was a discrepancy in the fare. They thought it was $5 and he thought it was $9. This whole thing started over $4.

Either way, both sides are acting absolutely ridiculous, and should be ashamed of themselves. They should also both receive full sentences for their stupidity.
And over something soo trivial as $4 or slamming a car door... smh

In the other video, when they speak french, one guy was asking the other if he was the one who banged up the driver's hood all alone, then the other guy replies sarcastically, "no, what are you talking about? the driver just rammed his car into a wall." I honestly hope he gets what he deserves. That's just wrong to bang up this guy's good and harass him all for $4. People need to grow up.

We will never know what happened.
Argument. Guys get out and beat on buddy's cars cabbie runs in fear. After hitting a wall and a post is so scared he runs over someone and takes off.
Argument. Guys get out and cabby chases them with car. People retaliate, one gets hit, cabbie runs.
Judging by the video id say the first one. BUT you never know.
I've had fare disputes. The driver usually calls the office. Asks for the flat rate and give the cheaper of the two.
I've also had cabbies ( great ones) turn off the meter because they thought it should have been less time or money. At the end of the ride will say something like. Only give me 20. I took a bad route. The meter was above the ammount asked for ( happened 3 times for me).

This is what happens when people get drunk and act like zombies. They are attacking and swarming the taxi like idiots (I wanted say animals but that would be giving these losers too much credit!)
The scum bag deserved eating some tire and I am glad he will live to learn from being stupid.
For those judging the taxi cab driver, what would you do when some stupid b!tch and 20 other guys start kicking and attacking your car?
This is the one time its good to have a lowered car as when you hit these idiots, they won't get trapped underneath breaking your OEM engine shield which costs $150 to replace.

One thing viewers should take into account is that were in an relaxed atmosphere and watching what happened.
The taxi driver on the other hand already has his car already damaged and sees a swarm of more people coming around him, he may not seem the same window of opportunity.
For example....a back seat driver will always tell you what you should have done but there not the ones driving.
In My Opinion

Did anyone find out if the guy that got ran over is okay? He didn't die or anything did he?

Taxi driver should have just pulled to the side down the road and called the cops. Not paying your fare is theft and a chargeable ofrence, I know some people who own a taxi businessman haven't problems calling the cops if you do not pay.

The guy who got hit is stable and recovering in hospital... No life-threatening injuries IIRC. The cabbie reportedly tried calling the cops and couldn't get through. Don't know if there was no service or what. But then again, there's people physically trying to break into his vehicle. I wouldn't just sit there and wait either :S
Also, that close-up video is extremely graphic and NSFW

As bad as it may be that the guy video taped it, but at the same time, that video is evidence and will help the justice system determine who was really at fault.
After watching that close up video though, my heart began to beat really fast. Got a little bit of an adrenaline rush there. Freaked me right out. Such a sad thing to happen to him. No one deserves to be run over regardless of the situation. Pain like that is something no one should ever have to go through.

Of course no one deserves it.
But sometimes you need to teach people the harsh reality of their actions.
He was acting pretty bad ass 30 seconds before he ate some asphalt and rubber compound.

+1
Who stands in front of a car when you know the guy is trying to drive away in fear of his life?
