Hey guys,

currently getting tuned by atvfreek at MSF. Here are 2 logs, 1 with OTS + MAF calibrated, other is the first freektune revision that he has done his base tune on. I have sent him new logs off this tune and he should be sending me a new tune ASAP. I am hoping for closer to 40WHP/100TQ.

Yeah it's only the first revision he is sending me a new one tonight. like i said from what i've seen from people with similar mods and perm tune have roughly 300whp 320-330tq. I guess well see what happens.

Target AFR was 11.6 on this one. I think he adjusted the load a bit and set the boost a little higher as well. We'll see what he comes up with on the next revision.

In regards to this, how would you suggest I go easy (honest question). I've just been doing 3rd gear WOT logs.

third gear logs dont tell you anything you need to do 4th gear logs.

don't do too many in a row. Especially on the long weekend. if you know what I mean.

When you're driving a 400WHP monster and you're peeling hard in 3rd that may be true, if my car is gripping through 3rd though, wouldn't 3rd be ok? 4th is too dangerous - I've come way too close doing a 4th gear log on the 400 already once, heh.

Doesn't matter what your hp is. 4th gear pulls will tell you how the motor is really performing.

4th gear pulls arent dangerous. You just have to conduct it in a way that no one is around.

I see what you're saying now. I thought 3rd WOT was good enough if traction was there.

By the top of 4th you're going really fast I don't see where I could reasonably do it though.

i don't have many places to do 4th gear pulls.. Such a heat score doing it there all the time

You could always do a mix rotation of areas, butt hey would have to milar to get consistant tuning results. The scarey thing about doing a 4th gear WOT log is that it'll take you to 108 MPH and that's enough for the 50 over/street racing law. You definitely need to be cautious.

LMAO, my message was broken up when typing on the blackberry keyboard/screen, here's what it should have said:

"You could always do a mix rotation of areas, but they would have to be similar to get consistant tuning datalogs. The scarey thing about doing a 4th gear WOT log is that it'll take you to 112 MPH and that's enough for the 50 over/street racing law. You definitely need to be cautious."

That's what the message should have said, but a closed road/track is the safest/best/only place to do a 4th gear WOT log.

Oh and clearly those speeds are determined from my days at the 1/4 mile and Toronto TMP, not the street which is why I think @fywdy was asking what I was doing by posting a speed.. lol.

We understand what the problem is when doing 4th gear wot runs. Please edit your post describing speed on the last post.

Hahaha, well I can't edit the post since I don't have enough posts. So if a mod likes they can go a head and edit the posts. Though I don't see what's wrong with the post since I don't say I do those speeds on public streets, that's what test & tune days at the 1/4 mile are for. I was just stating what speed you would be doing, oh well.

After some Disscussion with Dustin from Perm he suggests the best place to do Logs is the Track. The surface is consistent and it is a safe environment.

Agreed. That's what I've been doing. Go down to the 1/4 mile and basically "waste" a pass for logging and then enjoy the rest of the night racing at the strip.

Tuning on the strip is def way less expensive than dyno time, but both have their advantages.

The biggest issue I noticed with tuning at the strip is the heat soak as you wait in the staging lanes. My BAT's were reading 160 degree F while waiting.

A couple of ways to manage BAT temps while in the staging lanes...
- A bag of ice on the intake manifold
- Pushing car through the staging lanes as opposed to idling
- Thermal intake gasket to keep the heat transfer from the head down.
