With the new packages, the '13 mazda 3's are gonna be a really attractive choice compared to the poorly rated new civics, bland corollas and korean car offerings. Standard blind spot (on GT models) is a sweet addition.

- People who wanted a SkyActiv engine but lost out because none of the GT package features were available... can now rejoice!

- People who pay the big bucks towards a GT now basically get the "GT-E" luxo package for free. Does that mean GT-E is deleted?

That's too early. They're most likely following the 5 year cycle so earliest would probably be a 2016 model, on sale in 2015.

Sounds like a headunit similar to the one in the CX-5 (replaces the cd/radio fascia with a touch screen nav unit).

Just found this random page that may or may not be from an official Mazda dealership in Chicago. It says the 2013 3 is going to come with a new SKY-D engine that produces 167 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque with a fuel economy of up to 43 mpg on the highway from a 2.2 litre engine. Crazy talk!

Just found this link, the equipment matches the list posted here although the trim level names don`t. One point of interest is it lists a "1st row LCD screen". Not sure how accurate the prices are though but they might be a good hint (eg. `12 GT with auto is 27,740 but `13 GT auto is showing 27,490 ). Seems a bit too good to be true. Considering all the equipment that now comes standard you`d expect the price to be a bit higher not lower.

I'm comparing to the Optima EX Turbo - auto, leather, dual climate, backup camera, push button; it does not have GPS and HID, but has a 6 spd auto and 100 more HP. I'm not saying the Optima is the end of the world, but I think $30k+ should go a longer way.

The 2013 Sport GT is only $300 more than the 2012 Sport GT + GT-E package

I believe the 2013 GT effectively comes with the GT-E package included by default.

So the price increase isn't really that huge ($300), and for that you get a USB port and supposedly "full screen color NAV" which sounds like a big improvement over the current NAV system in the Mazda3.

Looking at kia.ca and mazda.ca I think the pricing between the 2012 Optima Turbo and 2012 Mazda3 GT-E Auto is closer to $5200. The purchase price of an Optima EX Turbo is $32,469.42 (Includes Alberta taxes, freight and rebates). A Mazda3 Sedan GT-E Automatic is $27,199.31 (Includes Alberta taxes, freight and rebates). The difference for financing is $34,729.42 and $27,199.31 respectively, over $7,500.00.

The Optima is still one heck of a deal IMO.

It's funny... it always seems like Kia/Hyundai is a "great deal" but every test drive I have been on (both by myself and with family members) I've always left unimpressed by their vehicles.

They certainly seem to "review well" and "price well" and be packed with a decent amount of features for the price... but I've never been impressed by how they drive, how they feel, etc.

Note: I've only driven their SUVs and small/economy cars. Have not touched a Genesis or Genny Coupe yet ;)

I'm in the need of some advice - Should I get a new 2012 GT Sport for $23k or wait for the 2013 model? The cash incentive price should bring the price of the 13 down eventually. The main snag is the additional $2k cost of the GT-E package on the 12 which is now standard for the 13 model. I''m assuming this is the major difference between these models. Anyone able to clarify the difference between the models at this point in time?

I've been looking at the 2012 Sport Skyactiv but I think I will wait for the 2013 model. Looking at pictures on the USA and Japan websites show a few of the new feature. I only hope that these features end up on the Canadian version. New headlights have the kodo look and feel to them. The back middle seat is now sporting a headrest.

Dealers do alot of trades, and since the 3 is BY FAR the most popular mazda, its easy to have 50 3's on the lot.

You have to remember, companies deal with dealerships for fleet cars too.

30 base model 3's on the lot COULD very well belong to 1 customer.

My dealer in Atlantic Canada (Halifax) emailed me today (Friday, October 12th) to let me know that the 2013 Mazda 3 Skyactiv's are in port (I'm guessing the West coast). They expect to start seeing them here in three weeks as they are coming by rail. So, ther ecloser yu are to BC then the sooner you will get to see one.

FYI, HIDs are still not available in Canadian Skyactiv 3s for 2013, while the US have had a GT spec Skyactiv in 2012 rolling over into 2013.

I was contemplating waiting for the 2013s so I could get a touring model, but that would've meant paying thousands on interest or waiting a full year for 0% financing to come back. I only wanted the automatic climate control, but I'm happy with my 2012 Skyactiv moonroof+leather package sedan with 6 speed manual. I've had my car for a month and a half and I found that I don't miss auto climate control much at all.

Seriously? Who wants navi in a new car? EVERYONE! Thats why EVERYONE is making it an option now.

Because hand held navi's need to be plugged in with a cable across the dash of your brand new car and that looks like shit and they shouldent be left in the window in extreme heat or cold wich is a hassle compared to a built in nav wich stays put all the time.

And my nav is hooked up to my wheel, can you control your garmin from your wheel? Does it tell you directions through your speakers? And if so can you independently control both volumes from your wheel while driving? Change directions? Stop navigation?

See where im getting to? Youd get pulled over for CLEARLY using your big bulky goofy old garmin and i would drive by with my hands on my wheel controlling my navi as if i was just driving.

Can your garmin be stolen easily from your car? My navi would be a bitch to remove and is useless with just a screen lol.

I also used to HATE when my gps would randomly fall off in weird weather, probably my fault, but my in dash factory nav cant fall lol.

And really, why not get every option?

My speed's tech package was a 2k option for a bunch of stuff, i did NOT think twice about 2k on a 35k car, and i didnt WANT navi, heated seats,bose,auto lights,bsm,etc but when your spending that kinda $ jesus GET THE DAMN THING LOADED TO THE TEET.

Resale is mucchhh easier with fully loaded cars vs base model cars because most people LOVE the features.

I was told by my Mazda dealer that they (Sport skyactiv) are in port and expected in Nova Scotia in three weeks (ETA November 2nd) coming by rail.

I am waiting to take delivery of my 2007 Mazda 3 S GT Sport ... paid $12,000. I was going to buy a new Skyactive but could not justify new. The '07 has every feature you have except bluetooth and navi. Call me cheap but I use it for business and the thought of the depreciation hit as I drove off the lot hurt too much. Regarding the Garmin vrs the factory navi....the thing is I love my Garmin....its probably more accurate than any sat service. As for window stickage ....yes its a chore having yo restick the damn thing from time to time. Cord management issues are not a issue with me. Oh yeah wish I has the USB port too. Not worth the extra thousands imho.

If anything needs to be standard, a Trip computer would be it. Funny that only GM uses it on all their models.

Trip computer is included with any $100 Garmin GPS. The trip computer on my new 07 GT is a liar. It told me the range was 537 when i filled it up, but, its a optimist, it assumes thats hiway at 100 KPH. I'm a city driver and the 9.6 L per 100 k ave is bullshite. The bottom line is I did 380 km city in my '97 Mazda MPV on 55 litres of gas. This car is got me 420.... Im dissapponted.

I bet Skyactive is alot less fuel efficient than advertised as well.

Always check your car with a watch or gps to ensure the speedometer works properly. If you are going slower than the speedometer says your warranty will run out faster than it should. The courts consider a gps more accurate than a cars speedometer! Seriosly dont fret about not getting a incar trip computer....just buy a Garmin GPS... you enter the real world facts into it and the results are far more accurate!

You ever think that the trip computer changes constantly?

When i fill up at the track and go out on a FULL tank, my trip computer says about 200km to a FULL TANK.

When i fill up before i leave, it knows how i was just driving, and says "200km" but within 15 mins that 200km goes up to 600km because i am no longer driving flat out and it knows that.

The trip computer is not a "liar" lol

Yes they do. If I have a heavy foot one tank, my trip computer will remember that and say low 600's remaining upon fill-up. It always climbs to low 700's within 10 minutes if I take it easy. That said, in my regular driving, I don't get over 650km/tank.

Also, when you coast downhill long enough, your "km's remaining" actually counts up.

actually my faith has been restored.... i was premature in my gas milage ...im getting 10.22 L/100 km city... the tank is either smaller than the 55 L i thought it was or the trip computer leaves 7L in reserve.

We just picked up our 2013 the other night and the Nav is done by TomTom. I haven't really had a chance to play with it yet but I'll try and take some pics of the screens this weekend.

the new 2013 Mazda 3 models are sick. the main difference isnt in the shape but the features. the Gs became almost a GT model with the sky activ too. honestly, thats more than amazing.
for smart buyers I guess it is good time to push the dealers to sell their 2012 models . you will get a great deal , 0% finance and you can load your vehicle. no one will notice the difference between 2012 and 2013 from outside but you will save a lot of money.
but hey if you arent in rush you can buy the 2013 Mazdas later on . Im pretty sure the incentive will chanage at the end of the summer.

If you can swing it, I recommend looking at the cash discount with a higher interest rate loan. If you can pay off your car quicker, you'll save a good chunk of cash. Any dealer will run the numbers for you, but I recommend Jeff :)

2012 Mazda3s are 0% for 72/84 months on GS Sport/Sedan

2013 Mazda3s are 0% for 24 months only.

No payments for 90 days.. meh..

Long story short.. it is currently the best time to get a 2012 Mazda3 but snooze and you lose because inventory is going quick.. and it is currently the best time to LEASE a 2013 Mazda3.

I'm actaully driving one now. since, Im working in a dealership and we get a new demo every now and then.
the 2013 is sick . mine is skyactiv with sun roof which is a regular GS model . but It got an information screen , USP and same interior as previous years GT models. honestly, the 2013 MAZDA 3 is a great value.
