Wondering if anyone has encountered these problems...

I bought my 2012 GX and with less than a week in, I notice that the A/C is very weak. You can tell that there is cool air coming out of it if you put your hand against it but it barely provides any cooling inside the cabin.

Also, I have a manual tranny and noticed that the clutch has a dull squeaking/rubbing/scratching feel and sound to it when its close to being fully pressed.

Has anyone encountered these issues and if so what was the culprit?

I will be taking the car to the dealership, hoping for an easy, hassle free fix.

How many kms are on the car? It's a new car, so give it time for everything to wear into proper use.

Less than 1K. But seems strange that you would need to break in the car in order for the AC to work properly....

we have two cars, one with 56000km and one with 38000 km. ac is cold in both. worst case have the dealer you purchased from have a look, maybe for some reason its low on refrigerant.

My '04 Hatch had a poor A/C
My '11 is much better. Have yours checked by the dealer.

A/C should not have to "break in"... Neither should there be a squeaking coming from the clutch. Sounds like it could be a faulty pilot bearing as they tend to squeak when the clutch is depressed. But most things on this thread are just going to be an educated guess, you'll just have to get the dealer to check it out and confirm the cause of these problems.

We also have a 2012 GX. No noise, so far, from the clutch and our A/C is very fast to cool off the cabin.
Hope your dealer is helpful.

Try to set the knob to recirculate interior air for A/C - makes a world of difference. When it's always getting outside air, it can't cool it fast enough.

does this describe whats going on for anyone?

TSB: 07-11-09
2010-2012 MAZDA3 (2.0L LF - A/T) - WARM AIR FROM VENTS WITH A/C ON WHEN DECELERATING AND BRAKING
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2010-2012 Mazda3 (2.0L LF - A/T ) with VINs lower than JM1BL******563806 (produced before November 16, 2011)

DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may experience warm air from the A/C when decelerating and applying the brakes for a period of time (i.e. going down a freeway ramp). To avoid engine stall while braking, the PCM is programmed to cut off the A/C compressor until the brake pedal is released or the vehicle stops. To repair the problem, the control logic of the PCM has been changed.

Do a google search on "weak mazda 3 ac" and you will see its a very common occurence going back to the 1st gen 3's. There are some fixes at the dealership but IMO, the AC on the 3 is not as strong as its competitors in the segment.
