View Full Version : Service at Agincourt Mazda

Kept getting calls recently from Agincourt saying that my four month service was due. I've actually gone on two long trips and since did an oil change at 8000km's. Mentioned this to them, and the reply I got was "Well sir, we do an oil change, tire rotation, and car wash, complimentary."
So thinking it was complimentary, and seeing as they called me a dozen times, I took the car in. Soon as I drove into the service garage, I asked the gentleman who I dealt with the same thing, mentioning that I had been called repeatedly to come in for my four month service. Again, same line as the girl on the phone.
They took my car in, told me to sit tight, said it would be an hour. An hour and a half later they informed me they were done. I went up, and they tell me "Sir, that will be $106." I was in disbelief. I asked how it was that it would cost me that amount when I had been told repeatedly that it was complimentary. At this time, he finally indicated "The car wash is complimentary sir."
OK, so tell me guys... Is this a noob mistake on my part, or am I right in thinking this is a highly misleading practice of phrasing their script in this way? I bought a brand new 2012 Sport GT from them, and didn't bat an eye when they didn't offer me the initial comp oil change at the time of purchase, and maybe I got my hopes up too high when they kept calling me... He actually said "See you in September!" on my way out... Yeah right! I do all my own work... Quicker and cheaper.
Think it's bogus though that most other manufacturers/dealerships offer a standard comp oil change for all new car purchases.
Normally tire rotation is not free and oil change is not free

No, it's a very n00b mistake.
A car wash from a dealership for free is not uncommon, but a free oil change and tire rotation will never happen.

NOOB MISTAKE! ...The car wash was complimetary, nothing else. Did you ask them specifically if the oil change, tire rotation was also complimentary? Otherwise they would assume you would understand it was only the car wash that was. But if they stated the service was complimentary, then you have a case against them, but goodluck getting your money back. Furthermore $106 bucks is excessive for simply an oil change and rotation.

I have yet to see Mazda offer a complimentary oil change program but other manufacturers are doing it. Like Toyota Care for example, offers free oil changes, tire rotation, multi-point "inspection" and roadside assistance for 2 years on their new models I believe it is.
I could see how it could be a bit misleading when other companies are offering such things, you sort of just hope or expect all competing manufactures to offer those bonuses.
The dealership's statement did sound a bit misleading but I think you're SOL on this one.

For most vehicles ( unless it is opted out) the first oil change service is free ( not including the tire rotation ) , there has sometimes been the case where with a purchase the first year service may be free but it of course is case by case, A car wash is complimentary for most cases with vehicles that have budds mazda or specialty plate covers. $106 seems a bit excessive, even for Mazda 0W20 it comes to $90.11 with HST give or take a buck, or two.

$106 is a little too much for oil change and tire rotation. So far i"ve done two of them for $63 all in
not a noob mistake, just a misunderstanding. don't sweat it bro

When going to the dealership, always discuss the bottom line price with the service advisor before they touch your car.never assume anything. That way you can walk away if you feel the price is unjustified
did you sign the work order prior to have them work on ur car? they probably have listed all the jobs with prices. I will say dont feel piss/rip off bcoz its just a rotation they charge you what $30 bucks? you only see them 3 times in a year if you follow the rec schedule so dont dislike your dealership

im here right now on theyre computer. theyre checking a problem with my door and i think the inspection fee was like 100 something if its not under warranty....which my car obviously not. but im gonna get it fixed anyways as long as the price is reasonable.

I've never had a "free" 1st oil change with any new car that I've ever purchased.
It is a noob mistake because if anything seems too good to be true, then it probably is. Always ask what the catch is and ask how much any service will be before you agree to it. As mentioned above an estimate is usually attached to the work order you sign and if they want to do more work than what you signed for then they have to get your approval.
After 16,000 km you probably didn't need a tire rotation yet anyway.

usually most tires need rotation every 8,000km. they will usually wear 1-2/32nds every oil change. so they would / should have been rotated already before the 16,000 km service.
Maybe it is high because they use synthetic oil on mazda 3 skyactiv. I just made an appointment with agincourt mazda for this friday for an oil change.
0W20 is not that expensive. if anything it is more expensive at Mr.lube, the dealers usually gets a better price for the bulk purchase should be around $53.95 ( for the oil change ) + disposal and HST
ive heard some mr lubes and other locations charge $60-80 + for a 0W20 oil change. ( depending i suppose of the added in filter and this add in and that add in that they always seem to try for)

Where do you go for an oil change?
my work. ( dealer) they do the whole familys fleet a solid 7 cars.
on mine car if started with the summers i will rotate them once, then install the winters. and rotate them and then install the summers again.
