View Full Version : Where to Buy High Quality HID Bulbs (D2S)

I've done some searching but didn't really come up with any good sources.
I'm looking to possibly buy some 6000k D2S HID bulbs for my car but I don't really want to get those "German quality" but made in China bulbs that everyone seems to be selling with the 1 year warranty which will probably burn out a day after the warranty expires.
So does anybody know where I can buy a higher quality bulb? Maybe something like Sylvania or even actual OEM quality like Phillips bulbs for a reasonable price?
Or am I just being too picky and the China bulbs are fine and will last a least a few years no problem?
If anyone knows where to buy some bulbs that will, with reasonable certainty, last at least a few years, let me know.
Thanks!

Do you know what kind of bulbs they have? I didn't see anything on their website.
I suppose I could just PM them but I figured I'd ask...

Hmm I'm not familiar with TRS. Are they in the GTA? Do they have a website? I tried googling it but I just got random stuff...

If you want some OEM Philips 85122/+ at 4300k, get em from the guy on Kijiji that is from Halton/Milton.
He's my retrofitter, and he always has some on hand.

I would order from the dealer but I don't think I could get 6000k. Plus they're something like $220 each bulb!
I'll check out the retrofitsource. Thanks!

The Morimoto's seem like a good buy. Has anybody here personally used them?
Fuyuzora has them iirc (you can pm him). Google is also your friend for reviews/feedback.
I would look into the denso/matsushita (aka panasonic) ballasts on TRS if you want something OEM. I plan on getting the aforementioned once i sell my current setup.

Yeah I have read some pretty good reviews. I was just looking for someones opinion on here since I would trust reviews from members here more so than google.
These matsushita ballasts sound interesting... Do you think it's worth upgrading the stock ballasts (Phillips I think)?

i didn't realize you had oem bi-xenon. ignore the comment about the ballasts.
so you want german, and something better than your oem DS2 bulbs? osram is the next step up, but it is pricey.

Yeah I have OEM bi-xenon. I don't necessarily want something better than OEM, I just want something equivalent or as close as I can get to it without spending a fortune.
The only reason I'm changing the bulbs at all is because I stupidly bought 6000k LED fogs so now I want to get matching 6000k HID's but don't want to replace them with some cheap ass bulbs.
I did look at those Osram bulbs just for fun, they sound awesome but they are certainly expensive. And they don't come in 6000k, neither do the Phillips bulbs unfortunately.
So, I think I'll give the Morimoto's a try, good reviews and a very reasonable price.

I'm usin them for my lows. 6k. And the battery harness they sell is top notch. Heavy duty wiring, dual 40 amp relays....ya ya ya I know..I'm hearing people saying "overkill" ....don't care.. I LUUUVV overkill = peace of mind = no issues = big smile on my face every time I turn on my hid's :D

I picked up my D1S bulbs from nextmod for my GC (stock were 4300 and wanted 6000). Got them for less than $100 when other places are selling them at double the price or more.

Get a set off Osram CBI from the Retrofit Source, OEM quality, massive output compared to Philips/Osram stock bulbs and they the legal maximum 5000k colour temp. Loose the 6000k bulbs and get something esle, unless you're a smurf.

Would love them but they're $200. It's a but out of a student's budget. Plus I want 6000k to match my fogs, I'd rather 5000k but I already have the fog lights. I guess I'm a smurf then.
