Does anyone get interference when listening to AM radio stations?

I installed a VG sharkfin antenna a few weeks ago, and have been listening to FM stations all this time without any issues. I only switched over to an AM station for the first time since the install last night. Funny thing was, the interference was in sync with the shifting on my MT. The interference that I'm getting is similar to the whine you get when driving close to TTC streetcars, like how it gets louder/more intense when the streetcar is accelerating up from stationary.

As rare as I listen to AM stations, even before the sharkfin install, I don't recall having any interference prior to the mod.

Any correlation at all to the sharkfin?

yes there is a correlation. The sharkfin is not as strong of an antenna as a standard antenna. As a result it is more difficult to pick up weaker signals.

could also be the area you are in, if im coming up the hill to mavis on the 403 am gets bad and my phone reception cuts out. otherwise with our sharkfin am is pretty good ( as good as am is anyway)

AM signal is inferior to the FM signal, thus when changing to a different antenna, the am signal could be disturbed.
