The Glorious Return of the Squeak

So I'm back to ask more questions about squeaking. It seems there's 444000 reasons a squeaking sound may occur, but none of the resources I looked at were Mazda specific, thus I'm wondering if any of the knowledge on here would be of more use. When I first signed up here I noted a squeak when driving at low speeds and sometimes when braking. Most here attributed it to the aftermarket brakes on my car, and Maple Mazda said this as well. Recently, I hit a curb and had an alignment done on my car to repair the offset caused by the impact. The mechanics installed a camber arm on the damaged side to bring the wheel into spec.

I've noticed my squeaking sound seems to have worsened over time. However, I don't know which of these issues to attribute the sound to, or if it's related to either of them. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Most often it seems that when I start the car from cold, there's no sound, except sometimes when first engaging the brakes. Then, when the car gets warmed up and I've hit the brakes a few times, it happens when driving, and engaging the brakes stops the sound. Occasionally, it will occur with brakes disengaged and with brakes engaged. To describe the sound, it's like a chirping with rotation of the wheel. Squeak squeak squeak squeaksqueaksqueak then it becomes difficult to hear/goes away. Also, when braking in reverse or even forward, sometimes there is a loud ERRRRA sound that pops up. All of these are intermittent issues and do not ALWAYS happen, so I've chalked up the previous sound to my brakes. Now that I've had recent work done and the sound seems worse at times, I'm wondering if it could be related to the new repair, or just the condition of the AM brakes worsening.

What combo are you running for brake pads/rotors?

No idea, I bought the car less than a year ago, but Maple Mazda told me (during 46k inspections) that my front brakes were in almost brand new condition, and that my rears were close to the condition of the fronts but a bit more worn. This would have been in early March, and they noted the brakes were not OEM, I'm guessing they meant pads and rotors since I bought the car at 44k.

Also to be noted, engaging the handbrake usually gets rid of the sound all together, even just one click.

Sounds like you need a brake service. Take the brakes apart and lube them up. You can do this for about $8 worth a grease at CT. The dealer labour rate is huge for brakes. I could do it for you if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself.

That would be extremely helpful, haha. Even if you could do one and show me what you're doing so I can do the other 3 and learn how to do this.
