Exposed silver on black rims

Just noticed this on my wheel and now its all I can notice

There is silver exposed in between where I dont use the lug wholes. Was wondering how to cover that up. Dont want to spend too much to fix that as I could probably live it with or use permanent marker, but not sure how long that would last.

Any advice would be great.

That's how I bought them. They're not plasti dipped or powdercoated (by me).

Will rust paint work or is there another option. Was going to maybe plastidip them but that might be a pain without removing the tires.

Rust paint works well, especially in inconspicuous areas. I've rust-painted entire cars and it's turned out well. Just clean the area with a rag and spray some brake cleaner to break up dirt - the best thing about the brake cleaner is it will evaporate so you wont have to wipe it dry

apply the rust paint with a small brush, like a fine art brush. Spray the paint into a lid and then dip the brush and apply

you're only trying to hide it from being seen so that should be more than good enough IMO

Ya that was the plan. Hopefully I have my Amazing art brushes from grade 9 Art class somewhere stashed in the basement.

You can also buy rust paint in tubs.. But it might actually be better to go with spraying the cans + brush as the smallest tubs are still a lot..


Another option is Asphault Undercoating - because it's rubberized, the tension of the lug-nuts would be stronger with the rubbery friction and would be harder to chip than dry paint

Well for now I'm only doing the exposed ones, in the wintertime I might do a bit more if I dont sell/replace them
