I am noticing some oil or some other fluid starting to appear under my 3 for the first time. I want to know if there are any methods or telltale signs to figure out from where the fluid is coming from. Thanks

oil, coolant, or transmission fluid...which year is your car?

Colour. Thickness. And smell.

Black means oil.
Thin means coolant. ( water thin), as well if it smells sweet.
Red is usually ATF, but I have a manual so I wouldn't know for sure.

It could as well be water from the AC. I Find my Mazda leaks alot of water from the AC compared to other cars.

Shove a clean piece of cardboard under the car and that will narrow down the type as well as location it's dripping from. Where it drips isn't always where the leak is.

check your oil drain plug first. maybe the washer is warn and you may have a small leak even if the bolt is tight.

Check your tranny lines. My friend at work had one leaking fluid, replaced line all good now.
