Why is this road always loaded with idiot drivers... Every-time I have to travel along it I end up having to call the OPP for some jackass.
Enjoy the video, especially the ending :)

Nicely done! And that's right by where I live. :)
I commute on this road every workday and I actually haven't had too many complaints.. by and large a very nice, relaxing drive. I much prefer it to my old commute from one side of Brampton to the other!
..and I'm sorry to do this but I have to.. It's spelled "deke". :)

Ha can't change the spelling now... :)
Yeah its amazing how many people drive like tools, considering there's an OPP detachment another 20km up the road

This is all too common, especially on the highway during heavy traffic, almost rush hour. Probably see 2-3 cars on my 400 commute doing this. Oddly dont see much of this on the 404.
Isnt the limit on there 80? What does passing lane have to do with this. You were going ~94 and they were flying by.

Well, the number of times I've had to call OPP on that stretch of road, I almost always see them pulled over later on.
That being said its a straight stretch for the whole run from Brampton to Orangeville, so they might have ignored my call but saw the drivers being dinks 10 km later

The CRV is not that bad, and I wont call that "aggressive lane change", I have see worse than that.
For the beige Accord, he is stupid.

Ye when I cruize up 10-especially during typical peak times the average speed seems to be 110 + no questions about it. And the middle/turning lanes seems to be a common passing lane lol.
Good work man

So while you were on the phone with the OPP, did you happen to read any of those "Keep right except for passing" signs? I know you mentioned the RFD comments, but come on man. I've driven up there and every car does 100. These guys barely did anything wrong except those passes/lane changes...I was expecting some racing!

The left lane only becomes a passing lane when there are more than 2 lanes.

There's literally more than 20 of these from Brampton to Orangeville on HWY 10, and the RFD people are right. If OP and the RV weren't hogging the passing lane they (CRV and accord), while in their obvious rush, would not have been put in a place where they needed to make aggressive passes/lane changes.

I think people are confusing 400 series highways with 2 lane municipal roads.
And like I said on RFD, it wouldn't have mattered if we were doing 80 or 200, the two cars were all over the road.
If you watch closely enough you see the CRV make like 4 lane changes in the space of 10 seconds. How is that safe?
Either way, it doesn't really matter what the forumites think I suppose, since the OPP pulled both cars over anyways

So do you ever look at the signs on the right side of the road? I guess not...
They pulled them over because you called them. They may not even have been ticketed for anything, but since you called with their tags and what not you gave a bored cop in Caledon/Orangeville something to look into.
No one follows the keep right except to pass thing anymore. IMO there are just TOO many cars on the road for that theory to really work anymore. If everyone were in the right lane in this case the roads would be clogged, therefore you'll find people in the "passing" left lane all the time. I drive in whatever lane is faster, period. If you're riding at or under the speed limit in the left you can fully expect i'll pass you on the right. Right or wrong, it's gotta get done. Too many dummies out there who are oblivious to everything/everyone else.

This. I drive in what ever lane is faster, usually the left. If someone rides up on me or I feel like the guy behind me is going to get closer or wants to speed up, within reason I will move over and let him cruise to 30-50 past limit. Allows me to go a bit faster without drawing as much attention.

That doesnt justify anything they did. Just because one person doesnt follow the road rules, does not mean the rest can ignore them too. What they did was unsafe and against the rules. Sure the RV should have been in the right lane if not passing, that doesnt justify the others to Weave in and out of traffic and use the turning lanes to pass. I get frustrated by the people doing 90 on the 400 series but I dont use the shoulder to pass them, I wait till it's safe to do so.

SAPPO, I wish more people would call and complain about drivers on HWY 10 from Brampton to Shelburne, I've driven this road for over 20 years and I have seen some major idiots drive this road including the police. It has gotten slightly better now with the road being widened but at the same accord the municipality really needs to bump the speed limit up on this road now. Speed limit is 80km/h most people are going to travel at 95km/h which is not unreasonable for this stretch of road since there are so many people commuting on it. just my 2cents.

This is why i enjoy driving in the states. Everyone knows to stay in the right lane.
As per the video this is nothing. The CRV was not dodging in and out at high speeds he moved in and out slowly. Even i drive harder than that. So OPP doesn't give you any crap for driving when on a cell phone. Now that is dangerous.
And ya I agree stay out of the left lane. also agree that this is way to far gone in Ontario and we just have to live with it.

I was quietly thinking this. I drove down to Grove City last October and was shocked at how orderly traffic was.
Seems that there are plenty o' lousy drivers up here.

wow. Excellent work. I'd love to get that OPP number off of you. Booter22 and I live right on the borderline of Brampton and Caledon and we see such crazy drivers and we always want to report them. We just thought the cops wouldn't do anything about it. Guess Im wrong.
Once again, great job. Glad to see that some drivers care and try and do something about it.
Thumbs up.

Yup. Done that drive a couple times. I've seen some ontario cars in the left lane get tail gated and boxed in by 18 wheelers to teach them a lesson.

Bluetooth hands-free is a wonderful gadget ain't it?
And glad to see some people appreciate my small contribution to road safety... I may not ALWAYS follow the rules 100% (boost tends to do that to people) but I will not tolerate endangering my life or the life of anyone in the car with me, you guys couldn't see the 5 minutes preceding the CRV blowing past me as he and the Civic were busy playing street race to my rear

I drive to O'ville 3-4 times a week to visit the girlfriend and I always catch my self speeding, not because of the speed 3 turbo, but everyone feels the need to be on your ass the whole way. If i didnt love my car i would slam the brakes and get a beautiful shiny new bumper and paint job on them lol.

I couldn't agree more. The only ones I see cruising the left lanes down south are Highway Patrol and vehicles with Ontario plates...

I understand calling on the Accord, that was just dumb of him. I have been known to pass on double yellow lines if the guy is going really slow, and I know the road I'm on, and it isn't illegal to do that, but to pass in the turning lane, that's just plain dangerous.

cool vid, good to see those drivers got pulled over.
I can never understand why people are in such a rush. If everyone just drove according to road conditions and gave everyone enough space and had some patience, a lot of accidents could be avoided.
There's always a few that still think that if flow of traffic is 80....they have every right to do 120 and pull d*ck moves like those two cars.
I agree with comments about driving in the states, i love cruising the interstate! I did a drive to Charlottle NC end of Aug and loved it....the minute people see cars coming onto the hwy, everyone moves over to let them in.....traffic is always flowing

You wasted the OPP's time by calling them for the CRV?.................
xxSlidewaysxx
09-07-2012, 03:42 PM
It all depends on when you go, no where you go. I do this drive everyday, usually 5:30 in the AM on the way down and 5-6 PM on the way back up. Lane hogs are lane hogs, but usually if you have patience, they will move and let the left lane become free........
@Foxy, it is a written law to stay right except for when passing....
Slow vehicles to travel on right side - 147.
(1) Any vehicle travelling upon a roadway at less than the normal speed of traffic at that time and place shall, where practicable, be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic or as close as practicable to the right hand curb or edge of the roadway. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 147 (1).
Exception
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to a driver of a,
(a) vehicle while overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction;
(b) vehicle while preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway; or
(c) road service vehicle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 147 (2).
The question is, have you ever seen this enforced???

If it was such a waste, they could have simply ignored my call
My guess is they probably recieved multiple calls about those vehicles.... lack of rear facing dash cam prevents seeing the whole story.

Anyone who calls the cops deserves to get nailed to the fullest for their own mistakes. Nobodys perfect, but some do a "service to society" by bothering the police with things that don't matter and feel closer to perfect than those around them. One day someone will call OPP on you while enjoying your "boost."
I also hope Foxy finds the recent FATAL hwy 10 accident, which was the result of two drivers hogging the left lane in opposite directions...one swerved a bit off course, and now both drivers are dead. I bet they got where they were going the fastest.

I have to agree with you matt9. I have spent some time on ride alongs with the OPP. More serious calls can be missed as a result of an officer chasing down a traffic violation such as the Honda CRV. However, I completely agree with your call to report the Honda accord. That was just plain stupidity.
