About two weeks back, we went shopping around for a new car for my daughter (looking at Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Chev, Ford. We had never owned Mazda so though we should check it out. We went to MoT as it was very close to the house. At that point, I would have had no reason to join a Mazda user forum (and hence would not know of Jeff); we simply walked into to a Mazda dealer from a GM dealer.

It was actually a pretty poor experience.

The 'showroom' was poorly lit and really didnt do the cars justice. The salesmen that approached us was kinda sad and not very talkative, He volunteered no information. We had to ask all the questions. He didnt even offer a brochure, let alone a test drive. We strolled outside to look at the cars in stock - tons of them - they looked univiting and boring. Recall this was our FIRST expericnce with Mazda. We ruled Mazda out then and there.

A few days later, after still not finding a car we liked, we realized perhaps the poor guy just had an off day, and we really didn’t give the car a fair chance, so we called in to explain what happened earlier and to arrange a test drive. They told us on the phone that might not be possible as the salesmen we dealt with was not in, and could it wait a few days. We said absolutely not - we just want to take a car for a test drive, and that the salesman wasn't all that helpful anyway. They asked if we would be buying today. OMG! We told them we cannot buy it without first driving it! They said OK, and we went over to the dealer. The salesmen we dealt with asked again if we were buyig today!! OMG. We said, ya know what, just forget it. They said wait..and asked for a few minutes to get a car ready. Throughout the test drive, this second salesman provided zero information about the mazda; all he did was ask what cars were were looking at and he told us all the things wrong with each of them ( but nothing about the Mazda). A complete negative experience again We thanked him very much and left. Have not been back.

My wife suggested to simply try another dealer before we write off Mazda. Good thing. We went to another two dealers - totally different experience and now we own a Mazda!

During the process, as we were getting serious about Mazda, I joined TM3 which was extremly helpful. And I did make contact with Jeff during the process, but the timing did not work out.

So all I can say is for prospective buyers like ourselves who were simply shopping around and coming in off the street, we really got a bad impression and were turned off completely. thus our exeperience at MoT was not great...., but for noob's who are reading this now, you know you can contact Jeff and will certainly have a better experience!

But the dealership may want to do something about those 'first impressions' and the attitude of the salesmen!!
