Avante Mazda Experience

In looking for our first Mazda, we dealt with Kent, who was amazing. Really personable and positive;treated us great, He knew the car well, explained all the promotions, differences between GX and GS, offered test drives, etc. He got us quite excited about the car.

I did my homework, knew what I wanted to pay, and so we went back to make an offer. I was crystal clear from the start on what I wanted to put down and pay monthly. We came up a bit during the negotiation. Kent was great during the whole process, and we were really close.

Then the manager came into the picture and blew the deal. All negative and unwilling to budge. We gave a final counter offer (same monthly pmt and a bit a lower downpayment) and when they said they "Great news", we thought great! .... but they simply pulled a fast one - which was completely dishonest and disrepectful, They "We got the downpayment down to what you wanted". I looked at it , and sure enough, it was lower.... but they kindda forgot to mention they raised the monthly payments to higher than we agreed to! I pointed that out and they admitted,yes, "just a few dollars" a month. WTF?? Just a few dollars?? On 84 months??!! So they knock off $400 off the price and raise the payments by $360!. Some deal coming down $40. We thanked them very much and walked out (no one was in the showroom so it was easy to find the door).

I was surprised Kent never called back to follow up -ie a maybe-next-time call, or a have-you-bought-yet,, or to apolgize for his maanger, or something.

Anyway, that was that.

Dealership experiences can be crappy... i've learned to just not go to the place after a bad experience - simple...

The opinion suggested by our Manager Alan Kuo was offered to customize the transaction to get to where you had proposed your desired monthly payment. Avante cannot comment on your dealings with a fellow dealer.

damage control now ???? It's kind of late, don't you think ! OP came to your dealership and gave you a first shot in trying to get a deal done there and in turn, your dealership started to play around with numbers which eventually ticked him off and within a short time, OP headed over to another dealer and got it done at the price he wanted to pay.

Last thought, why would you even bother to investigate after the fact, OP even said the sales guy did not even bother to call him to explain or do follow up. As for service at your dealership, why would he come, esp. he was treated like a fool.

As to the "explanation" given, it makes no sense anyway.

They say they "cannot comment with your dealings with a fellow dealer". Huh? What other dealer? I was only referring to my expereince at Avante!
And they spin the whole thing as an attempt "customize the transaction" ??? I'll say. That's where they blew it.


The only thing I accept at face value is the comment: "thank you for bringing this to our attention"

Sure it is. It's called negotuating. I got the deal I wanted at another dealer!


Avante was offering me the monthly payment I wanted, and a given downpayment.
I counter-offered with same monthly payment, lower downpayment.
They came back to me and said "Agreed"
I looked at the deal, downpayment was whatt I requested, but they raised the monthly pmt!! So they didnt really agree at all!


I did not mind Avante sticking to its price. I objected to the sneaky way they did it, by leading me to beleive they accepted my counter-offer.

Other dealers were more willing to neogitate and more open and up front.
