Awhile back I got invited to check out a cover shoot for Performance Auto and Sound with Ste Ho (shutterlit (http://www.shutterlit.com/)).

I wrote a longer post about it on Stance Is Everything (http://www.stanceiseverything.com/2012/07/behind-the-scenes-of-a-performance-auto-and-sound-cover-shoot/) but I figured maybe some of you would just want to look at the pics.

The car about a week before the shoot:

and finally the cover vs a shot by Ste

The mag I think has mailed out already and is on news stands next week.

Sorry for the grain in the shots... forgot my tripod.

Great shots Dave! Can't wait to get mag. Was the car vinyl wrapped for the shoot?
So that's how to do a rolling shot!

That's how you do a rig shot, rolling shots (like my sig) can be done with two moving vehicles.

The car is wrapped :)

Quick question, as I just noticed from the mag photo

Why not just do everything in photoshop...?

I mean, instead of going through the hassle of wrapping the car, and all the little cosmetic changes. When things like brand stickers are added after the fact in photoshop anyways?

With the prevelance in media these days for photoshopping everything else (I'm pretty sure Kim Kardashian is 99% photoshop), I wonder why car guys don't take the easy way out

Not a dig at all, Love the photos :)

1. Chances are that the wrap wasn't done ONLY for the cover, but as a change the owner wanted.

2. Rig shots are a lot easier to get mostly in camera, then fixed up afterwards. This goes for a lot of photos.

Stickers are just an add on done later, minor thing. Plus getting those off vinyl would ruin the vinyl.

those photoshopped decals are probably of the same advertisers that 'pay the bills', so to speak.

That is a good reason. I forgot vinyl on vinyl is hard to remove without stretching
