View Full Version : F - For Mazda Gabriel. Harry (the Service advisor) is a complete douche!

Harry was extremely rude with me. I had purchased the car from their dealership on July 22nd 2011. I had then brought it in for a 1 year/24,000 km servicing and thought it was going to be a trouble free experience. On top of the service, I was to have my rear window trim replaced since it was RUSTING...on a 2011 mazda 3 with 8,000 km on it. Car was bought brand new and babied its whole life so far.
Anyways, I call back to make another appointment and because they made an error, i now have to take time off of work to bring the car in because THEY ONLY DID A 4 MONTH/8000KM servicing. He tried to blame me for it, of course.
Since the 4 month servicing was done, there was some maintenance that wasn't completed, such as; brake service, suspension inspection, they didnt even fill out a detailed report on the car but supplied me with a blank inspection report............WHY???
So, now I am on the phone and because it is another 3 hour wait which I don't find fair for me to wait since, number 1: i didnt cause the rust and a new car shouldnt be rusting. number 2: they didnt do the proper service to the car, which again is not my fault.
I asked them to drive me home with their shuttle service, BUT THEY WON'T PICK ME UP, forcing me to use public transit (which is a good hour and 30 minutes just to get there in the blazing summer heat).
I asked them to give me a loaner car, but they dont give loaners if the car isnt "BROKEN DOWN" even though I bought the extended warranty which is supposed to give me a loaner car for these reasons.
He wanted to charge me $24 for a rental car. I asked him to kindly waive the fee given the circumstances, he said NO WHAT DO YOU THINK I AM GONNA DO, GIVE YOU EVERYTHING?? WHY? JUST CAUSE YOU ARE SERVICING YOUR CAR HERE???
I said, "So you're willing to lose a customer for good over $24?
He said DONT YOU THREATEN ME, IF YOU TALK TO ME THIS WAY, I WILL TALK TO YOU BACK"
These were his actual words....
This is all coming from a dealership my dad and I bought cars from....
NEVER again!! Friends of mine come back with the same feedback!
DO NOT EVER GO TO MAZDA GABRIEL! DRIVE A LITTLE FURTHER IF YOU HAVE TO IN ORDER TO SEE ANOTHER DEALER!!
People say Acura is a crappy brand because it's just an overpriced Honda...but let me tell you, they drove me, picked me up, treated me like a king even though I was driving a CSX, one of their low end models. They never offered me a loaner because I was under 21 at the time but still drove me and picked me up, which was fine.
Both Mazda president and gabriel (same owners im guessing) are the worst!
Heard good things about spinelli mazda so, will try them out.

i got a at least 30 people to stop going to mazda president, same thing will happen with gabriel. Best part is, spinelli is right next to my house, and the people who would stop going to gabriel would just go to spinelli.
not a big detour at all to change dealers.

hahahhaha... "Mazda Gabriel" just sounds hilarious....
Sounds like you have bad luck with Montreal shops... if you enjoy long cruises go to Gatineau and have your car serviced at Elite from now on! :chuckle

lol that's quite the drive! worst case (which is not actually a bad thing) i'll get my car serviced at my local garage near my place that my dad has been going to for 30 years, he never had one problem! They are the most honest people.
It's a shell service station/gas station called Raffi.
Honest guy!

I had purchased the car from their dealership on July 22nd 2012. -I had then brought it in for a 1 year/24,000 km servicing
You purchased the car in 2012? Or do you mean 2011?
I was to have my rear window trim replaced since it was RUSTING...on a 2011 mazda 3 with 8,000 km on it. Car was bought brand new and babied its whole life so far.
This is not common but I have seen this before. There is a tsb to repair and replace the trim as it was too close to the window which caused it to rub and then rust.
THEY ONLY DID A 4 MONTH/8000KM servicing.
Related to comment above if the car was purchased on July 22 and had 8 000 km on it I could see why they were confused about the 24,000 km service. Otherwise 8,000km in a year is not that much km and maybe they just made an honest mistake unless it was made clear when you dropped off the vehicle.
I asked them to give me a loaner car, but they dont give loaners if the car isnt "BROKEN DOWN" even though I bought the extended warranty which is supposed to give me a loaner car for these reasons. He wanted to charge me $24 for a rental car.
Your extended coverage be it MAPP or aftermarket or some kind generally won’t cover you for a rental car for the first 24 hours. For MAPP to cover the rental the vehicle would need to be in for repairs with parts on order that may not be readily available be it back order parts or parts that won’t be received until the following day but they still won’t cover you for the first day ( 24 hours ) and they won’t cover you for a rental for maintenance services.
still sucks for a negative experience and nice review. just wanted to try and clear up some of the comments.

I think the problem is most of the dealerships just suck here. They don't care about their customers.
Been to three now - The one in laval (the used car/bodyshop half of the dealership, not the new car dealership down the road) stole my emblems and refused to give them back until i caused a huge scene in front of a lot of customers, the one in the west island stole all my LEDs, and then gave them back when I went in there ****ing screaming at them... and Albi tried to sell me a speed for 10k more than it was worth (28grand for a 2007 speed with 60k on it). I lol'ed in the salesperson's face, i was like I seriously drove an hour over here for you to waste my time?
Also have been to the 2 closest pontiac dealerships for my gf's G5. The one in Laval stole her airconditioner (in the winter, she didn't notice for 6 months and then we had to fight like crazy to get one reinstalled for free)
The one in St. Laurent charged her ~200$ for an oil change (i called and bitched them out... got someone fired over that one)
Montreal sucks.

@Booter22
i completely understand the rental car/loaner program and the criteria, but seeming as it was their mistake, and after him admitting he was wrong, could have done the smallest little courtesy as to waive a $24 charge.... I really was not asking for much.
The issue is, it is not me doing my regular service and waiting 2 hours, I wouldnt ask for a car or a shuttle service to and from....but this issue was caused by the dealership whether or not it was an honest mistake, it was still a mistake that inconvenienced me.
Is asking for a $24 credit when im paying $200 for a service that much?? Not really.
They have a hard time believing in customer loyalty and satisfaction.
I cancelled my appointment for the brake service and getting it done at spinelli instead. it;s about principle.

Ontario Mazda doesn't give me a loaner neither with I have MAPP. They gonan repair the rust for minimum 1 week, so that means I have to rent a car to go to work for the entire week?!
Loaner car for a service is probably pushing, especially the small 24 months service. Drive you home and pick you up should be offered if within their working hour. They hired a driver to do that.

no of course they should have given you a vehicle for there mistake thats just good service and common sense. but it seems its lacking a bit there.
@skymp3 - mapp doesnt cover for perforation repairs its only mechanial so if you do need a loaner or rental that is why or its up to the dealer if they will cover one for you.

Mazdas are really fun cars and i love mine but their service is realllly bad. I only owned honda, acura and now mazda and mazda is by far the worst one with acura being the best. Honda was good, no complaints there as of yet/

i work in customer service so I know what it is like to be on the other end of the situation and let me tell you, good customer service is super hard to find these days! It's strange because with all of the competition you would think they want your business.

Okay, so as a service advisor, I know how difficult and frustrating certain problem cars can be. Telling customers they have problems with their cars (especially brand new) is the worst part of my day, even though its basically my entire job. However, as a rule, its typically- be nice to your service advisor and they will be nice to you. Yes, we have protocols to go by, yes there are certain rules for rentals and shuttles and warranty. HOWEVER, we have alot of discretion and so do our managers. If we petition our manager's on behalf of some of our customers, each rule can be bent and/or broken (respectably).
So, if you were nice to him, as a good service advisor (or just a good person), he should of realized the mistake and inconvenience to you and rectified the situation. He didnt.
I give him an F in customer service.

yup! I was really nice and calm as well as understanding the entire time, even when he started to raise his voice and saying I was using inappropriate language...I never swore once lol.
He is just a dickhole and lost my business (besides warranty work), because i dont care if mazda pays them, i wont pay them out of my own pocket. I am never going back there. So it's their loss, not mine.

Oh ya! I forgot to mention this part!
I asked him if he understood one of the words I said, as he was french, and he kinda seemed confused so he says "IM NOT AN IDIOT I KNOW WHAT YOU SAID, I AM NOT INFERIOR TO YOU"
So i replied nicely, "I was just making sure because I didn't really get a response, so maybe you did not understand what I was saying"
Then i said, I dont understand french very well so I can understand how easy it is to get lost in a conversation sometimes"
**by the way, i speak french fluently but was being considerate and respectful...
So after me telling him i dont speak french well.....HE STARTED SPEAKING TO ME IN ONLY FRENCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol i surprised him when i spoke perfectly in french to respond to his idiotic comments.
sigh...

I've dealt with so many knobs at Mazda dealerships it's unbelievable. I used to have an Acura as well (RSX Type-S) and the service at Acura of Barrie was absolutely outstanding.
It really is frustrating that they can have such awful customer service. And it's worse when they act like you don't know anything about your car and give you some stupid excuse as to why they can't fix something under warranty. Most customers wouldn't know otherwise, but it's very annoying when you know what they're telling you is BS.

Not sure if you service at Mazda at barrie but so far I've had no trouble except for the large dent to my wallet everytime I visit a dealership. Then again neither me nor my parents, nor any relatives or close friends for that matter, know anything about cars.
