My issue is that the shift lock on a automatic tranmission won't disengage and let me get out of park and into another gear.
I am currently working on a 2004 Mazda 3 that had to be towed as the cars security system went haywire. The cars headlights and horn came on periodically with a random pattern and there was no way to turn it off with the key or remote. The car would not start. A Mazda tech from a dealership came to look at it also and he had never seen anything like it. After ripping the interior apart I found a remote starter and immobilizer module. The remote on the key only had lock unlock and panic buttons. This seemed odd. The remote starter was an OEM system and was tapped into many many things. Still unsure of what some were. It was tapped into the ignition, 1 of the 4 wires on the brake switch (not the one that gives power to the solenoid in the shifter), a white wire on the steering column, and about 6 of the wires in the fusebox under the glovebox on the passenger side. The 2 wires coming from the solenoid pass through the fuse box but I'm unsure if it has it's own fuse. Could not figure out which one it is. Tested the wire that comes from brake switch to the solenoid and it seems fine and we tested the solenoid itself which also seems fine. After removing the two modules the car now starts but the solenoid in shifter is not working.
Thank you
