I did a search but am limited on my iPhone from tobermory.

Yesterday I blew a hole in my sidewall, actually a few, I don't even know how. Driving fine then all of a sudden I started to pull right. Got out and checked my tires and front right was flat.

Work has been slow lately so funds are limited. But I do need to buy new tires. I would have had to for next season anyways. But this kind of forces my hand.

Anyone have suggestions on decent tires on a budget, 225 40 18. No more then $600 all in. But less is always better.
Was looking at simple tire ironman iMove an Nanking ns2 sport. Any reviews on these.
Now to attempt to drive 300km on my spare that is way to small.
Thanks.

Hey I was on a budget as well and I went with Barum Bravuris. They are made by Continental. I bought mine from Simply Tire for under $500! I find them quiet and the best bang for the buck. Allen even recommended these for me with all factors taken into consideration.

The Nankang's really aren't that bad. I had a set for a while... Relatively quiet, decent in all weather, good tread life considering the class of tire. Obviously not good for the track but fine for everyday driving if you don't really push your car very hard.

You could try kijiji too, there's some good deals on there plus you don't have to pay tax.

nankang and wanlis are my choices, there good for what people say about them, yes they can be noisy but they last, there a harder tire so they last

give exclusive a call!

good to know the Nanking are decent. I don't track so should be good.

A little above your budget but appears to be a good deal (http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-auto-parts-tires-tires-rims-Four-Brand-NEW-225-40-18-Dunlop-SP-Sport-100-Tread-W-Rated-W0QQAdIdZ402004296).

Nankang NS-2s are fantastic tires for the price, look sexy and last forever. I rolled them for years on my old 3 GT, and use them on my gf's G5 as well- still going strong after 5 seasons.

They're not the most grippy tires (i.e. probably not great for the track) but honestly for the price you can't go wrong.

Call around to your local collision centers, KAL tire, drive around the st. clair/dundas west/junction area...you can get two used tires up front with like 70% tread on 'em for ~ 60 bucks each.

Thanks guys.
I'm staying away from online for sure. I just don't like bigger ticket items online.

As for used. I have thought about it but am still on the fence about it. I know tons of places that do it but still.

The good news is that I made it home. And I have spare rims.

Well, I would really advise you to check out discount tire... there is no body besides that one buddy from the other forum who can match and beat those prices... and he only does it for me.. otherwise it IS the best price place... for rims and tires...

It is convinent too.. you order online and what you are asked to pay is what you pay.. and it comes straight to your door no questions asked. If its rims and tires you get them road balanced to your door. Quality valve stems are used, the whole works. I can't complain.

Even though it comes from the states it is cheaper than anything we get locally. ZThey also give free shipping on 4 tires/rims/etc... just check it out and everyone else too :)

What is there to be on the fence about? I bought my rear two tires used and I drove through Vaughan in that flood two weeks ago...oh, and my front two tires are bald as f***. I plan to swap those used too, but cant find a set of Continentals to match the other two. On that note, I recommend Continental tires as you may have guessed.

well put your postal code in lol... the letters and numbers of xxx xxx you know... canadian postal code. If they have a location nearby they will say if not they ask you to proceed to closest location (makes no difference) and you just shop around... its not that hard :-/

What is there to be on the fence about?

There are things to be concerned about when buying used tires. Tire damage is not always easy to see when just looking at the tire. Holes are not always going to be easy to see, there could be broken belts/cords in the tire, they may not balance well, etc. etc.

More often than not, you won't run into these problems but there is still a chance.

For us in Canada you need to go to Discount Tire Direct (http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/initTireSizes.do?)

I dunno. I've never had luck with used tires. Plus I need all 4 anyways so I'll have to look.

Priced out a few used before and by the time you install and everything it's costs just a bit more for new.
If you can though. Pm me the shop you use. I'm in the junction and toryork area alot so I'll check this week.

I recommend http://www.tiretrends.com/car-tires-canada.htm
They're canadian, and have very extremely good prices on certain tires.

+1 on this! Got my falken's for $400. Free shipping wasn't available at the time to Canada but I picked them up in the states and saved a buttload on shipping.

I don't know anyone in particular, but I know there's a lot of places on St. Clair west of Runnymede. Check around Dundas too. I knew a guy on Newkirk in Richmond Hill before for 16s but he didn't have any last time I was there. You could check for 18s if you like.
