Ticketed for mods on a car that's not yours

Can you be ticketed for modifications on a vehicle that you don't own but happen to be driving? I'm not the owner of the vehicle, so can I still be ticketed for modifications on the vehicle?

I would think in that case, the ticket will go to the owners of the vehicle, just like parking tickets gets sent to the owners of the vehicle not who was driving at the time. Same with red light tickets from the camera.

I dont see why you couldnt get a ticket for this. The onus is you to ensure whatever vehicle you're driving is safe and fully road legal. If theres something obviously illegal about your friends car, dont drive it, or at least dont expect immunity from the long flabby arm of the law.

theyll probably start questioning why your driving it first. your license wont match the insurance/car. when they do get a hold of the owner and has confirmed that you are allowed to drive the car, they can pretty much ticket anyone for anything. they might ticket the owner for the car but whos gonna go do it... unless its CLAERLY illegal. the officer can then ticket you with some bs ticket saying you were speeding a bit. they usually ticket as much as possible to as much people as possible when it comes to illegally modified cars. also depends if the cop was bored or not.

You will get ticket... It's your responceabilty to make sure the car is fit for road before driving it

From what i have read all modifications done to a car fall under the HTA, which means yes you can be ticketed.
But if the car is impounded for the mods, it would fall on the owner of the vehicle to get it out of the lot and they would be the only person allowed to get the car out of impound. IMO good way to cause an arguement between friends.

thats a ridiculous reason to get a car impounded.... a ticket sure but impounded? wow, that shit usually happens to drunk drivers wen they cant find anyone else to drive it

I remember that. And I'm pretty sure i know the cop.
The car was deemed " unsafe" due to rubbing. Foolish in my opinion. Even my car is lower then his.
