Hi Everyone,

Just had some new Continental DWS's installed on my 17" rims for my Mazda 3 2008 GT. After I put them on I noticed a gap between the rim and the tire wall that I did not have on my previous tire. Can someone let me know if this is normal or something that is not normal. Second thing I noticed is that the profile seems to be thicker? I am not sure if this is just me or if my tires had some weird low profile but both are 205/50R17 so they should be the same.

Let me know your thoughts and Thanks

I think it's probably normal as long as you don't notice any abnormalities during driving.

i dont see anything wrong...what are you trying to show?? you mean that edge/angle where the tire meets the rim?? yea, its suppose to be like that. its the bead that seals the tire to the rim. some tires have "rim protectors" that protrude a bit past the rim. that way when your about to brush a curb, you feel it through the tires before the rim. gives you time to recover. also, every tire manufacturer is a bit different from other as size goes. you can have two different brands of tires both 207/50/17. theyll be a bit off from each other. if you google pictures of your tire, you can see this is normal

Excellent that is what I thought. The only reason why I was concerned was that my old tires hugged the rim and and did not have this gap. I also looked at other cars almost all did not have this gap. Normally the lip of the rim and the curl/bead that seals the tire to the rim is right in the rim. I did however see online other rims with these tires with this little gap. As for the rim protector that is what I thought it might have been but these tires do not have a rim protector.

So far I am extremely happy with these tires. They are quit and ride well. The only thing I noticed is that compared to my old RSA is that they are much softer.

Thanks for the replies
