View Full Version : General Manager called me......oh boy

After giving Mazda Gabriel the worst rating possible in their survey, I got a call from the GM to see what happened.

He was very apologetic and offered me a free oil change for my next visit for the terrible and disrespectful service I received a few weeks ago.

The thing that struck me as weird was the following statement:

"Your cars mileage is so low, why would you want to do the 1 year/ 24,000 km service? These are just guidelines, I would have told you to complete your 1 year service in November instead of July since your mileage is so low."

note: i bought my car July 2011 so the 1 year service was due...

I replied, " I want to keep my service up to date and follow the schedule to a tee for warranty purposes."

His statement was, " It is just a guideline, being late by 4 or even 6 months on your service won't void a warranty should something go wrong with your brakes, or engine etc..."

Why would he say something like this??

If Mazda Canada sees I did not maintain my vehicle properly, they have every right to deny a claim that involves said piece that was not maintained in a timely fashion.

I found it weird.

Gonna take advantage of the free oil change but will not ever go back there and give them a pretty penny.

I was a few thousand KM's overdue for my 36K service and I figured that I had dun-goofed and voided my warranty, turns out that was not the case, they happily did the service and kept my warranty.

Do you know for a fact that your warranty is intact? If your engine blows at 50k, then you'll find out if it affected your warranty.

yea.. his statement is not correct, yes it is the mazda maintenance program, but if you dont do your major service for 4-6 months and then do it and then have a problem later yes mazda has the right to decline coverage of any said item. ( ie failed brake calipers if yearly service is not completed ) and of course if you stretch your oil changes out, sure you may be covered for other items but if there is a failure and it can be determined it is due to the lack of maintenance or the stretch on those few thousand km between oil changes then yes that repair could be declined too.

going for the free oil change, and will check that it was actually done, and never going back there. mazda gabriel gets a minus 1 in my books.

lol!, sounds like some fishy stuff lol, when you go in make sure the GM puts what he said in writing and signs it, so you can just **** off on your services for a few months, blow your engine and tranny, and have them replace it, so its all new again. lol.

he'll still find a way to deny his claims.

my next oil change is end of october so we will see if they even remember its free. he said he noted my file.

I heard the same... at different dealership...

The guy that took my keys said I need flushes done which were not on the maintenance page... so I asked him why I need to do it and wnat more information as I didn't go in ready to pay 600 bucks vs ~50 bucks. He said maintenance listing is a guideline... and don't need to be followed.

It's funny how some of these messages are inconsistent. But i say follow Mazda Canada guidelines as I think a lot of the claims are sent to them for approval (like rust for example)

Gabriel Mazda is in Quebec so I don't think you'll have to try very hard to avoid them lol.

LOL that's even worse!

With your cars history I wouldn't be surprised if it broke down :chuckle but who wants to take a road trip to Quebec? Living in Ottawa is as close to French as I'd want to get lol. No offense to anyone who's French on here.

I would LOL if a 30 km rear end collision and an alignment problem (both now repaired) cause my car to break down on the road I'll never buy a mazda again as long as I live! And I've got a friend who took a job in MTL recently, so I'll probably be heading down there in the fall. That being said, I wouldn't take my car, would probably just rent one.

I was more specifically referring to the "hopped a curb" thread lol.

Well not to drag out the off topic discussion, but that was the alignment issue I was talking about lol which was fixed, and no additional damage was noted...people have done worse things to their cars than hop a curb.

To be ON topic, I googled these guys and found pretty much none of their customers have been satisfied. http://www.google.ca/search?q=mazda+gabriel&rlz=1C1SNNT_enCA399CA399&sugexp=chrome,mod=0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#hl=en&rlz=1C1SNNT_enCA399CA399&sclient=psy-ab&q=mazda+gabriel+reviews&oq=mazda+gabriel+reviews&gs_l=serp.3..0i30.18588.19574.0.19649.8.3.0.5.5.0. 108.282.2j1.3.0...0.0...1c.mRFTvCHSnss&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=40261ec9763f955e&biw=1600&bih=799
