Hey guys, my airbag light turned on last night after filling up on gas. I noticed about 2 minutes after that the light was turned on. When I got to where i needed to be I tried turning off the car and taking the key out and then turning it on again, that seemed to turn off the airbag light. My question is, should I be worried and get it checked out or was it just a loose wire or something? I heard that any repairs involving airbags is an expensive repair.

It could be any number of things but you are probably looking at $100 just to have the code read. Most places will take the diagnostic charge off of the repair bill if you have it repaired by them.
Impossible to tell what it is without any information though.

If you're near Richmond Hill, I'll read it.
Or you can visit Part Source and they'll do it for free

Can your code reader read Air bag/SRS codes?
I don't think Part Source offers that for free like they do with standard OBDII CEL codes.
We will read codes for free here as well but our reader is not for SRS

Ah, then I take back my offer.
My air bag light came last year and it was my passenger side seat.... Check connections ... Mine was a lose connection.

Unfortantly your code reader can not read those codes.

Is it expensive to get the connections checked?

Under passenger seat check all connections your self.. They plug in.. So it's pretty simply to do your self.
My passenger side seat gets moved all the time that's why it got unplugged

Cool, thanks. Do you know by chance if they use the same port as the OBD scanners? Or do they hook up to another part of the car entirely?

airbags are covered under the 5 year/100k safety warranty, but of course it won't help since your car is 2006 :(

The machine is considerably more expensive. Like 10x the price

Looks like an OTC scanner. Yes they are more expensive. Even with that scanner, you may be able to scan the SRS code, but what about programming and calibration? There is where a Mazda specific software scanner comes in. Who knows what codes and issues you may have. You may need seat weight sensors, connectors may be loose or you may need a simple calibration. I hate to say it, but you'll probably need to go to the dealership and get it looked at.
